I think your being too many things at once. Like for example, my first character ever made was a dark elf mage, who was not only great in destruction, but in conjuration, one handd, and sneak, and somewhat archery. And let me tell you, it got really boring. This was due to the fact that I was basically a mage, a thief like character, and a warrior at the same time, being able to join the college, the DB, the guild, and the companions.

If you really like the battle mage like characters, stick to the skills of destruction and one handed mainly, with alteration as a backup. Or conjuration if you wish. Just don't include sneak. Sneak in this game overall can be a power house

Conjuration is good in the early levels because of bound weaponry- gain two or three levels without needing to raise your conjuration with an Altmer/High Elf and you have a weapon that will only be surpassed by high-tier crafted weapons and other endgame weaponry. For a pure mage, it will help because you can summon atronarchs/raise the recently dead, and at highest levels, you can have two active at once. Really helps to keep those melee-fanatics off your back.
