When Does Skyrim Run Out?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:18 am

There's a lot of waterfalls in my mod.

I've been wondering...

When does the game run out of water?

There's also a lot of torches that must be gas because you never have to go around lighting them...when do we get billed for all that gas?

And all those fireplaces ....Where does all that wood come from? Environmentalists must be going nuts!

And one more thing....

What's the kill limit on deer?

It's all in your mind and the perception of it. The game can last forever, I think, but can your character?

Or mostly important, can you last forever (as a player)

The game will continue, whether you're in it or not.

The game is not a reality simulator. You're going to a lot of trouble to find fault in a game. Funny thing is, the closer the game gets to being a simulation of reality, the more complaints people have. No one back in the day of Daggerfall would have brought up any of your issues. It just wasn't even on their radar. 20 years from now, when computers might be able to handle these issues, will games be more fun because of it? No. People will still be looking for faults so they can come online and act like they're the only ones who noticed the differences. It's a game. Enjoy it. Quit trying to make it your reality.

Honestly, that's pretty debatable. At the rate that technology and software improves, we have no idea what kind of entertainment capabilities we may have in the future. It very well may be possible that games get realistic enough that it is easy to point out, and even become distracted by things like infinite oil, wood, and water. We can't really speak for the future 20 years from now, because we can really only foresee nonmilitary technological advances about 8-9 years into the future.

I've been wondering...

When does the game run out of water?
It's a closed cycle: water eventually seeps down into underground Oblivion portals. That's where rain comes from, Oblivion being up in the sky and all. The Oblivion Crisis was just Mehrunes Dagon opening more to cool off excess lava buildup, but now that Martin sealed all the portals, the fire/ice balance is all out of whack.
There's also a lot of torches that must be gas because you never have to go around lighting them...when do we get billed for all that gas?
You don't; gas is subsidized by the Empire. Good reason not to support the Stormcloaks.
And all those fireplaces ....Where does all that wood come from? Environmentalists must be going nuts!
The logs are fake and just there for decoration. Every fireplace actually has a tiny fire atronach in it to keep it going.
And one more thing....

What's the kill limit on deer?
7. (9 if you're a Thane.)

At least melting snow from the mountains explains most of the water... try explaining the gigantic spring welling up from under Dragonsreach and creating a major river out of Whiterun. There's got to be alot of pressure there of som Mage long ago changed gravity under Dragonsreach to only effect water???

Oh, good, you have the answers. Now--what farms are those farmers with cows that they are delivering to the giants come from? Cause none are missing from my game.

Most water that flows on the surface does not come from Rain or Snowmelt. It is estimated that in our world, 90% of the fresh water is underground in aquifers. Springs, which are the source of the water is where the aquifers have an opening to the surface.

When you unplug your game system Skyrim runs out. I tested it before posting. Good news is you can plug back in and everything replentishes.

Hmmm, these are questions I'd ask myself if I didn't spend so much time chasing butterflies and torchbugs but now that I have a chance to sit down and think about it, I figure that---OMG A RABBIT. /follow

Being deeply concerned about global warming myself, I do find all the wood burning a little nerve wracking. Perhaps in a few thousand years Winterhold will be a beach front community?

Beorn, eh? the shape-shifting man/bear? Yeah, he was awesome. Apparently his honeyed cakes are to die for.
