Question about paralysis

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:48 pm

Hey guys, I'm really interested in paralysis, and have been since Oblivion. I was just wondering the different ways I could obtain ways to paralyse my enemies, e.g. spells, potions etc?

I'm playing a Nord Warrior, what would you consider the best ways for me? Thanks.

I think there are four ways to do it.

1. spell
2. potion
3. enchanted weapons
4. once-a-day power from the serpent stone

don't forget the last perk in the weapons skills "warmaster" and "paralyzing strike" (backwards power attack has a 25% chance to paralyze the target)

Where would I find paralysis-enchanted weapons? Preferably a 100% chance to paralyse, but if it doesn't exist then the nearest will do!

Another source would be the Ice Form shout. That might be a more RP-friendly way to accomplish a paralysis effect for a Nord warrior type.

Mostly the weapons are just found in random loot, and I don't think weapons have a "100% chance to paralyze" I thought it was just "targets that fail to resist are paralyzed for X seconds" Correct me If I'm wrong

Khan has the right of it. Oddly, different paralysis vectors affect enemies differently. For example, a bow poisoned with a paralysis potion, no matter how strong, will have no effect on a draugr. "Draugr resists paralysis poison" will be the fleeting message. Same with poisoning a melee weapon. But if you use a weapon enchanted with paralysis, you have an outstanding chance of poleaxing the stupid bone bag. Doesn't make sense to me, except that my character is 100% immune to poisons, so too, perhaps, are undead.

Pound for pound, I think paralysis is one of the very best mechanics in the game, simply because it interrupts the enemy and allows you to inflict the "death of a thousand paper cuts." Experiment and try various combinations, including other poisons, if that's your game.

If you use a melee follower, give them the paralysis enchanted weapon!

Canis root and Imp stool are abundant alchemical ingredients that have paralysis effect. But both regrow extremely slowly. It took three game months for canis root to start appearing again outside Riften.

Imp stool in particular is a very powerful base for poison. Posessing the Paralysis, Damage Health and Lingering damage health traits, a combination of readily available Mora Topinella, Imp stool and canis root, creates a powerful poison that inflicts 4 seconds of paralysis, and 4 points of damage over 10 seconds (For a total of 40 damage) with no alchemical boosts or skill. With gear, and full perks, this poison rivals Nevious Ichor.

My high end alchemist makes paralysis potions that paralyze for 18 seconds. As someone else said, certain enemies are immune to poisons so those potions won't work on them. From my experience the enchanted weapons only have a slight chance to paralyze. The best character to use them on would be one that has the perk that speeds up your swing speed. Can't remember what it's called right now. 2h warriors with a slow swing speed won't have much luck with it.

No your right that's how paralysis works. There's no percent chance of it, only if the target resist. But you probably learn it faster if you went through the alteration skill tree. In four character i've only run across it twice as random loot, but then again maybe im just unlucky.

Paralysis has saved my warrior from some tough enemies. I even know the formula for making them now, that`s how important I find them.

Yeah, it is quite high end loot, especially the decent paralysis enchantments, but the weapons are usually worth a lot.
