Creating New Characters

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:00 am

Hi, new to the forums here :)

Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but I have this problem where I make new characters like... Weekly. And I mean like 3 to 4 a week basically. I got the game for Xbox at the midnight release an I haven't beaten a single quest line yet. That includes the main story, the guilds, or the civil war. I only play on Saturdays so that means I creat 3 to 4 people on Saturday. Lol. Does anyone else have this problem? I've been doing this since oblivion. Never had this problem In morrowind, but I did everything with one maxed out character in oblivion before I went character crazy.

I'm actually doing a fairly good job of staying with one character. Lost track of how many I had in Oblivion, and I dont even do the main quest on there. I've been a restarter/reloader for a long time. I would frequently reload an earlier save and redo quests I already finished, or start over and create a new character. I have done some backtracking in Skyrim, but not a lot.

I am only on my second character and have had the game since release. Over 300 hours in my first one and closing in on a 100 with my new one. I don't make new characters a lot but I go in and change them around quite a bit to try to find exactly what I want. Here's a pic of my new character when he was first created and now after all my obsessive changes. It drives me crazy trying to make them look just how I want. :bonk:

Welcome to the forums Goldblood! Have a http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

I find that at the start of a new character, I need to re-make his/her appearance at least five times before I'm happy with their look.

Ha! I almost abandoned a character because I didnt like his appearance. Started a new one with the same race, Dunmer, and play style, dual wielding and heavy armor. All I did was change his face, hair and war paint. I didnt get too far with him, Bleak Falls, before I went back to my original Dunmer.

I don't understand the point of starting so many characters and then basically doing nothing with them. I like to play the game, see the game world, develop my character. I enjoy visiting the locations in the game world and playing through the quests. By doing nothing but repeatedly starting new characters all of that would be missed. To each their own I guess.

I like to do this but ... I often find my character doesn't 'click' with me, and thus I have no motivation to play through their lives. I've had two so far - both bosmers, an assassin and a Mage.

I think whats needed is a way to change your character's appearance and hairstyle in the game

You are creating your character as you go along. There is nothing in the starting sequence to choose except your race, so I never get restart-itis. If you like restarting a lot why not make your own endgame? Colloct 10 bear pelts for Temba Wide-Arms - open the menu - sit back and watch the credits roll. Then it's on to the next one.

I agree. I mean it doesn't need to be an extravagant system like the barbershop idea, which would be pretty cool actually; but maybe do something like they did before? Cuz in oblivion I made one seperate save file right in front of the sewer gate before entering the world so that I could make a new character w/o the whole beginning process. That would help immensely if they implemented that feature at the end of the cave at Helen. "Are you sure you want to play as this character? Well now that I have played around with this character, no, I would not like to play as character."

Because I really am trying to do everything I want to do, it's just that I think I'm trying way too hard to find a character that's "me" so to speak. Idk every time I make a character I always think of the future right from the beginning instead of the here and now. I'm too focused on "OMG Power in the future!!!" then role playing I guess. And I'm kind of an elder scrolls racist I guess. I have never played an Orc, khajiit, argonian or wood elf before, but my fiancé convinced me to try Orc for the first time and I kind of find it to be amazing actually.

I start a new character every so often. Currently have 5 I'm playing, with the highest being level 43, and the lowest around level 33. My current character is probably the one I will do all quests and finish the game with.

Welcome and good luck.

I have made so far 7 characters, 7 different races. Only 3 of them is actually playing. Lv45, lv41, lv15. I am sure I will play seriously on all 10 races at least once in the future.

Making new character is joy! Luckily I am PC user, I can fine tune their face whenever I wanted. I do care about every character's appearance a lot.

I love designing characters but I obviously don't have time to play them all. I just whip up new characters when I'm in the mood and then don't do anything with them and play my usual character. If I come up with a character look that I like, I sometimes put it on my website as a download for people who don't like designing their own characters. My usual character has been tweaked about 20 times in showracemenu and it will probably happen many more times.
