Another traveler, here to do some Roleplay.

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:58 am

So, I've made a new character and this time i want to "roleplay" abit more so here is my character and rules i have come up with.
These are my personal opinions, feel free to give feedback/tips, not hate. Thanks!

Rules:

- No fast travel or carriages.
- Always stay on roads when traveling(if possible).
- No crimes.
- Not allowed to carry more than 20 lockpicks.
- Sleep every night(If i'm not traveling).
- EDIT:Not allowed to carry more than 200 pounds in carry weight, and i can't pick up armor from dead bodies(only rings and necklaces).
- Not allowed to carry more than 5000 gold EDIT: 3000 gold, not allowed to store money to earn more(see "Notes" down below).
- Steel armor only(Other weapons than steel weapons are allowed).
- Master difficulty.
- Not allowed to kill innocent animals.
- No exploiting.
- Eat and drink in the morning and before going to bed.
- No guardian stones to level up faster(but other standing stones are allowed).

Class:
Paladin
Race:
Imperial
Main skills:
Restoration, One-handed, Smithing, Heavy armor(Maybe Speech and Alchemy later)
Weapon:
Mace(Maces only)
Standing stone:
The Lord Stone

Gameplay:

My character is not Dragonborn, therefore no main quest will be done.
Dealing with any deadric is the last thing she wants, therefore no deadric quest as well.
She stand neither on Stormcloaks or Imperials side in the war, so once again, no civil war quests.

She is dedicated to the worship of the goddess Mara, the goddess of love. She goes nowhere without an Amulet of Mara, she also visit Temple of Mara once a week.
I travel across Skyrim to help people by asking innkeepers and other people for work. I do alot of side and misc quests as I clear out caves and banditcamps.
When i'm walking around in towns/villages i don't use sprint and i keep my weapons low to avoid attention.
I also take my time to read any books and journals i find interesting. I always read journals!

I only use sprint to run away from something or to catch up with something, same with horses.
If I encounter a difficult enemy i can't kill, I flee from the battle.

Later, I will join Bard's college and become Thane in (EDIT:)Falkreath, Winterhold, Morthal and Dawnstar(if possible with my rules).

Notes:

I take it very slow and don't rush through the game with my character, amazing how much you get out of the game only by not using fast travel anymore. I stay a while in towns/villages when i'm traveling to rest and talk with people and hopefully get some quests.
I think there should have been a bonus if you eat enough each day(like Rested and Well Rested bonus), eating seems so pointless right now but since many people use that rule it would be fun to try it out myself. I can't cover all things and I will probably add some other rules or change the current ones later(I've changed some of them while writing this).
Music is also turned off, crosshair off, If I was a PC guy i'd probably use iHUD mod to turn off parts of the HUD.
I'd like some feedback on the gold rule because I don't want my character to be rich at all, I want my character to have a hard time survive in Skyrim. Any tips?

Thanks for reading

Don't think you can become Thane in Whiterun without starting the dragon quest line.

Sounds like a really nice low key RP.
'No Crimes' - You might need to make some more detailed rules about crimes in Skyrim to avoid grey areas. No crimes that a guard would consider a crime? Or do you have a personal code of what's a crime and what's not?
'Not allowed to kill innocent animals' - I like this one, but do you mean passive/fearful animals, or all natural animals, even the aggressive ones? I play mostly avoiding killing natural animals by using the Kyne's Peace shout, but without the main quest you will need a powerful calm spell.

The not being able to carry more than x-amount of gold may cause you difficulties. Even if you don't loot stuff, because you're restricting what you carry, you will still acquire a large amount of coin as rewards for the misc quests. What will you do with it when it gets to your top number, throw it on the ground? I wonder if little bags of gold would appear on the ground if you did? :P

As a devotee of Mara, you could donate your excess gold to the temple in Riften, and leave offerings of gold at various shrines and altars you encounter.

Not sure if you can become Thane of Windhelm without doing the Stormcloaks...

Nothing about carry weight? With my commoner build which is close to your build can only carry a sensible amount of stuff, I used myself as a guide. I would only be able to carry 100-150lbs comfortably and that includes what I'm wearing, so if you run out of potions you are out until your next stop in a city. This also helps control the vast amounts of coin you can make cause you have to consider whats needed for your journey and how much room is left for loot and spoils.

Your 'less than 3000 gold' rule is interesting, but if you intend to become a Thane in multiple holds then it's going to be an issue. Most holds require that you buy a house before you can qualify to be a Thane, and none of the houses fall under the 5000 gold mark. Just sayin'.

No HUD, no crosshair, no music, no kill cams expert.

That takes away a lot of things I enjoy most about Skyrim. I love the music in not just Skyrim, but all of The Elder Scrolls games I've played, and the music is a major aspect of them. They create different moods and give you a whole new feeling when you're out exploring. You can get peaceful tranquil music that allows you to see more beauty into the landscape you are currently exploring, and the more fast deep powerful music allows you to feel that you are in an epic battle against someone fighting for your life.

I also enjoy the little cinematic scenes of when you do an execution to an enemy, although my favourite ones are in first-person; I still enjoy the third-person ones too though, it's just I prefer to be in first-person at all times so I feel as if I'm actually there looking with my own eyes.

The whole no HUD and crosshair thing is awesome though, helps gets you more immersed into the game that you're really there. It's just for me, the music plays a huge part in my feeling towards TES games, they are really amazing,

I'm here to suggest adding something in. If you're doing One-handed, add Block to your skills. Block, block, hit, block, block, hit. I'm doing my first mostly warrior build and I found out how much I love the Block skill. Good luck...it looks like fun!

And welcome to the forums. Have a http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

Everything guards see as a crime, i do.
The only personal crime i have come up with is trespassing, if I go into a shop or someones house, i don't open every door and search every room. Would i want somebody to visit my bedroom for no reason? Especially if i enter Dragonsreach(for example)I show respect to the Jarl by only visit rooms im supposed to visit, and only talk to people im supposed to talk to. And if i discover a shack in the woods, i don't walk inside and search it(unless its abandoned). So it's more of a "show respect rule".

Not allowed to kill INNOCENT animals, if an animal attack me i must defend myself by killing it. But if its not attacking i don't touch it.

So far i haven't even got 2000 gold(i've just bought a horse). And im not getting any big rewards for quests yet.
If you talk to alot of people you'll notice that almost every local citizen are poor, and thats why i follow the 3000 gold limit(i don't want the option to buy a house too). I don't know how some of my rules will affect my gameplay later in the game, i will probably have to change some of them.

Totally forgot that, well small towns as Morthal, Winterhold and Dawnstar is still possible. I'm Thane in Morthal right now.

Thanks, thats an easier way to control the "Carry rule"! I will work on it to see what I can do to make it better.

I already have a Block/One-handed warrior build in level 45. And yes its fun! Restoration in left hand and a Mace in my right hand is close to that build. I love the restoration school, and guards give you respect

Yes, im quite new here. Thanks!

I understand, some music are perfect when im traveling. But i don't like the "fight music", and hearing that over and over again each time i go through a dungeon, or even in a battle with mudcrabs are just distracting...

I turn it down to the point that if the wind is up the slights bit you cannot hear it, but I need some back ground noise for my walk just like my MP3 player in R.L.

Hmm, yeah I see your opinion in that. The music actually gets me excited for the battle though when it comes on for me. But to each their own.

Don't think you can become Thane in Whiterun without starting the dragon quest line.

Hi,

with the "You are not the dragonborn" mod you can.
