Has this occured to anyone else? I was on my horse going from Whiterun to Markarth and came across a giant who didn't attack me wether I was on my horse or not. I followed him as he walked and came across another giant who also didn't attack me. I think maybe it's a bug or something.

There are peaceful giants as well, so that's why..

Since when? Every single giant I've ever come across has tried to kill me.

I fought a dragon shoulder-to-shoulder with a giant and his mammoth, and when it was all over they just wandered off.

WHATEVS! I saw a mammoth fall from the sky before though. And then it went back up. And then back down. Then it started walking.

That happened to me as well. Giants usually attack you when you attack their mammoths and vice versa. I think Bethesda should make it possible to pickpocket Giants. They usually carry a good loot and a reasanable amount of gold with them. If you could pickpocket them, you wouldn't have to kill them. I rather not kill them, but if its part of a quest i will. But i never ever kill mammoths. If they attack me i use the beast shout. That tranquils them. I'm also against killing mudcrabs, horkers, foxes and deers. Mudcrabs are kind of cute i think.

I've seen a peaceful giant walking around minding his own business and walking his goat and when I walked up to him he just continued to ignore me.

Wandering Giants are all peaceful, only those who are at camps attack if you get too close. However, Mammoths will all attack if you get too close, and Giants will defend Mammoths.

I don't know, I've managed to wander straight up to mammoths without being attacked.

In my experience they have all started to give me an angry look and gesture with tusks before attacking, maybe you just moved quickly enough to not send them berserk?

If you don't bother them for to long they won't attack. Thats every giant. All these people that say they attack, is because your up in their grill for to long or you shoot em.

Giants don't attack when out and about. Get too close to the precious fire however...

Their fire? The mammoth cheese is where it's at, that's what they're so defensive over.

As I recall all Giants have been hostile to my characters. Including wandering Giants.

However, those were wandering Giants with Mammoths. Next time I see a wandering Giant with no Mammoth, I'll test it out and run up to him.

My experience with giants has been that any of them will attack you if you get too close - but they give you fair warning to stay away, after all. None of them start the fight, though; steer clear of them and their mammoths and they'll leave you alone. Last character never messed with giants except ones where there was a bounty out on them for the usual stuff - being a threat to the vilagers, etc. I even went out of my way to avoid killing giants for one mission and actually sneaked around to get what he needed, although he was a warrior and not any sort of stealth character.
