The game is not about you, The game is about events. Every questline just throws you into an event. From the start you are pandered with events. A big black and spikey dragon with red eyes (very original design) Ruins an imperial celebration party- Thus reigniting the civil war and giving people a phobia of scaly birds. Then people think it a smart idea to send lonely you into a ruin and then you find out that you are dragonborn disgustingly soon in the storyline (if the marketing didn't ruin this for you) You didn't make yourself dragonborn, you ARE dragonborn from the very start of the game, no matter what guild you abandon the main quest for. (all with incredibly [censored] storylines i might add)
Your character barely develops too. You use one type of weapon to fight (using two or more makes your character weaker due to the awful perk design in conjunction with the levelling) and your choice of equipment depends entirely on what's the best thing that you have for your skill. You are wasting perk points if they don't go into armsman,Enchanter, Smithing or whatever armor you are using's first perk!! Why would you even try to branch into speech?
Your character is combat oriented, since all the skills Not used in combat are either downplayed tremendously (like speech and lockpicking) or completely removed. It's like the entire game was made for fights with draugr and dragons (who are repetitive, combat still needs work.. but at least they aren't falmer! ) There are no ghosts, No things unique or interesting. It's more "lets climb this mountain for a quest and use my dual wielding longswords of fire to pwn a dragon dude) I don't have the choice to become an acrobatic master thief because there is nothing worth stealing , thief skills svck and the guild is combat focused.
you know what? Id find a more interesting story out of people. It's a fantasy game, but id still find more joy in laughing and attaching myself to people than fighting dragons. Let's be honest- How many people in skyrim did you give a [censored] about? If you haven't been a stormcloak then probably none. (i count two) .
People and character development were so underdeveloped in this game, they are much more important than schemes of dagon and alduin (who i can't relate to) or being the chosen one for everything (which i also cannot relate to.. at least the nerevarine was only prophecised to do one thing as opposed to the four or five of the dragonborn)
