Why do I keep dying for no reason?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:54 pm

Every time at 3:00 AM in Skyrim I die. It doesn't even say i'm taking damage, I just die. I have checked my active affects and there is nothing hurting me. No mods. No available autosave to load. I turned on god mode and it let me live, but when I turned it off I died an hour later. Any idea? I'm using the latest patch.

Seriously though, that's pretty strange. Are you sure it's not the area you're in? Or maybe creating a new character would fix it.

Apparently, that's all the time you have to save the world of Skyrim. I guess Beth actually went pretty far with this random quest stuff.

Have you used any mods before? I used one of the hardcoe mods that added thirst, hunger and the need to sleep to the game. I didn't like so I installed it. After a while my caracter died all of a sudden! I forgot to delete some of the installed files so the mods was active, it just didn't show in the game.

I guess I was really hungry or very thirsty....

LOL! Good horror story. ^^ And well-described too.

Ha, I guess Alduin got too hungry after his little journey to the future, and decided on eating the world asap after all.

I remember that, but it's late and I don't want to read it again before I go to sleep.

Now something is killing me.

I just cleared Halted Stream Camp. After that room with the dead mammoth, I evaded most of the next few traps leading to a shortcut back outside - a pressure plate and a bear trap, but I got burned after disarming the tripwire. Once I made it outside, I found the body of a dead Altmer, and there was really no way to leave that pit without going back the way I came or fast travelling. So I tried to fast travel, but my game crashed.

After lurking these forums for a bit and reading through that story above, I loaded up the game again.

Right when my game loaded, I heard the sound of a bear trap, my character screamed, and she took a bit of damage. I didn't see any traps around, and the closest one I can think of is that one I evaded earlier, in a different cell. Of course, I was a little worried about more traps, so I jumped around trying to make sure I didn't step in anything I wasn't seeing. But when I reached the apex of my jump, I heard my character scream again, as well as a bear trap clamping around her leg and taking off more hp. And when I returned to the ground, it all happened again.

No matter what direction I jumped in or how many times, I suffered the pain of two bear traps for each jump. When I finally died, which didn't take very long, that autosave reloaded along with that bear trap sequence. After my character died for the fourth time, I exited the game and came here to write about it.

I've always loved acrobatics, but now not only is it removed from the game, but regular jumping kills me. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/seven-fights-aldudagga

Serious question. I'm going back in now to see if I can do anything about it.

Edit: Apparently, I also get hurt from walking. If I go a few seconds without anything happening, I hear them all clamping on me at once.

Are you talking about the pit with all the dead bodies? The damage is coming from the huge spikes all around, you touch them and you take a lot of damage.

This. It's a bear trap, or if prefer a pit trap. If you walk in stead of run you can minimize the damage, and heal after each step. But yes, you need to go back the way you came. And since it takes about 20 seconds to run through the whole cave end to end, you really don't need to fast travel to get out.
