[PC] Need Console Help

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:21 pm

OK, I'm in a mission that will remain nameless, where I have allies who are supposed to fight alongside me. They have weapons, but for some reason they insist on using only their fists.

Is there a way to adjust their AI so they actually use the giant swords they're carrying?

Thanks in advance - Z

I think you can force equip an item. Check UESP console article.

equipitem Equip selected NPC with Item With selected NPCs you can use equipitem ItemID for use. The opposite command is unequipitem, and works with the same syntax.
Also see unequipitem

Hmm. Good idea, thanks! But it didn't work. equipitem does make a sword appear in their hand for a split second, but then it vaporizes again. They don't sheathe it! It unequips instantaneously. It's as if the console is automatically spamming unequip on them.

I wish I could take their fists out of their inventory.

Did you try boosting the given weapon skill? That might help.

modav weaponskill x

weaponskill= the weapon skill it takes to be proficient e.g. (marksman, onehanded, twohanded)
x= number.

Can do.
Spoiler
Rescue from Fort Neugrad
From http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Rescue_from_Fort_Neugrad:
"There is a bug that can occur after freeing the soldiers from their respective prisons. Upon exiting the prison, the soldiers weapons will disappear, and they will begin to attack with only their fists. Anyone trying to dispatch of the guards stealthily will have their cover blown, and due to the weak unarmed skill of the soldiers, it is highly likely that one or more will die before you have a chance to kill the Imperial soldiers."

This is actually happening as soon as I release the Stormcloak soldiers from the cells. They go over to the chest where their weapons were stored by their captors, put on armor, equip giant swords. Then as soon as they meet any Imperials, either in the fort interior or out in the courtyard, their weapons disappear and the punching (and getting stabbed) begins.

Interesting, but also didn't work. The guys would disappear, then reappear in their cells naked. The one guy whose inventory I checked had a pickaxe, which seemed odd. Then they ran out and started punching. I forced greatswords into their inventory, but they didn't care. Punch punch punch! Thanks for the suggestions; don't hesitate to keep them coming :)

You ran into a known bug. Doubtful that dinking around with console commands is going to fix it. Just gonna hafta live with it, most likely. Or die, as the case may be.

Yep, that didn't work either. Thanks for all the ideas though.

Well ... plenty of broken stuff can be fixed with the console; that's pretty much all I use it for :) Can't hurt to ask. It is starting to look like there is no easy fix for this one though.
