What is the purpose of marriage besides the extra sleeping e

Furthermore, is the game build according to Mormon or Islam: marrying more than one wife? if not, can you divorce one and choose another one? I'm early in the game just want to know in advance. Thanks

Marriage is a one-time deal in skyrim, no divorce, remarriage, or polygamy. You get an added sleeping buff, a merchant at your house, and a hundred gold a day if your married.

Your wife will open up shop and you get a cut of the profit. She'll also make you a meal if you ask. You can only have one wife at a time.

Edit: Ninja'd!

Marriage can give income thanks to the spouse opening a store that somehow is never seen but gets business. It also makes for good role playing stuff. I don't think divorce and move on to the next person to marry is possible in Skyrim. If it is, I'd be surprised. Once you're hooked up with the dude or chick, you are stuck with them unless you kill them or something.

RP purposes and a bit of jingle. That's why it's better to take the plunge early on if you're going to do it.

A moveable shop as you change your house base.

It's filler so you have something to do outside the extremely short main quest.

For me it's just RP.
But one of the better things is that you can get a free house to live in.

A role play feature. It also makes your character less of a loner - in previous games your character was always quite lonely, whereas in Skyrim you'll always have someone waiting for you!

I can imagine this:

Dovahkiin walks in to house.
Spouse: "Hello dear, how have you-"
Dovahkiin: "Food and money."
Spouse: "Oh, ok, here you go."
Dovahkiin: "Ok bye."

The "home cooked meal" is a nice benefit from the spouse. Free too.

What's the purpose of having shouts in the game? It's just additional content.

i think killing your spouse works... nvr tried...
and sadly you can't have multiple wives and an additional point is they make gold... not that anyone needs it since it's so easy to get nowa days...

It's not about money or experience. It's not about sleeping together. It's about finding that one special person that you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Where are all the hopeless romantics?

My character just walks in to Ysolda, and talks about his day of killing and maybe thieving. She just says, "Okay, honey. So, want some Skooma. I know you could use a bit."

Her Khajiit spouse then purrs and says, "Sure, dear."

A halfhearted attempt on a feature, you either go all in or don't do it at all, the latter should've happened with Skyrim.
