Which hairstyles for male Altmer are safe, and do not clip (

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:26 am

I am on XBOX 360. Therefore, i have no access to console commands.

I have re-rolled 3 characters now, each one after 10 hours minimum of gameplay. I am getting sick of it. Apparently, I have chosen the 3 deadliest hairstyles for clipping. Each character had clipping issues with hoods, hats and helmets so terribly, that it was a joke. Some hats would not even appear on my head, just a blob of hair and cloth.

This is the first time I have ever played as a male Altmer in Skyrim. Could somebody who has already tested different hairstyles for clipping issues, please tell me which ones to avoid?

By the way, I want long hair. Any long hairstyles for altmer that are safe in regards to clipping.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Again, I am on 360.

Well, at least your ears don't disappear with some Hat's, and have the sides of the Helmet stretched out and the Back Piece missing o.o
Hood's are like the only thing Khajiit can wear on their head without looking wierd ._.

OT : I haven't played an Altmer so I can't help you D:
sorry.

That really svcks! I am sorry to hear that.

All 3 of my characters have been Male Nord, male breton, and male imperial.

Every one of those characters have had the back of their hair bursting through hoods and hats.

Also clipping through the iron helmet, imperial officers helmet, and others. I am not talking about little pixels. I am talking about whole chunks of my hair literally clipped through the top of my hood, the back and sides.

I just want to know which hairstyles are safe.

My male Dunmer wore the longest hairstyle for a while, and it clipped only through the Glass Armor.
Did you try this hairstyle- reddish hair, second in second row in the presets http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/c/ca/44156_Altmer_normal.jpg?

When you say that it only clipped through glass armor, does that mean you never experienced clipping in any hoods, helmets, or hats?

I have already accepted that long hair will clip through armor. That is ok. However the headgear issue is a burden.

As far as that hairstyle, I cannot tell if this is the one with the 2 braids on each side (totaling 4 braids in all), but if it is, then this is the most bugged hairstyle in the game for males.

No clipping for me, though the few headgear I used were the Imperial helmets and the Jagged Crown. A few more that I can't remember.
What about the straight hairstyle without braids? (not on the picture)
It's my Dunmer's current hairstyle, and everything seems fine for now. Nothing too unusual on the sides, and not too long to clip through armor.

I have thought about the shoulder length hair without braids, but I really want to have hair with braids. OR the longest hair, no braids, and goes past the shoulders (extremely long).

I am just wanting to know which hairstyles I can actually choose from, safe from clipping.

I really can't help here because my male character doesn't usually wear helmets, but I could test out some of them on the long hair (since you said the braided one is buggy). Just tell me which headgear you're planning to use.

I really appreciate it. Hoods, helmets and hats of any kind, from the Iron helmet, to the Novice Hood to ragged cap, hat, etc. Anything you can find and test.

Alright:
Tested the Iron, Steel (horned version too), Elven, Orcish, Hide, Scaled, Fur, Imperial (light and officer version) Glass, Dragon (both of them), Stormcloak Officer, and Falmer helmet, Mage and Monk hoods and hooded robes, and no clipping occurred with the longest straight hair.
Some of the helmets like Imperial, Steel, Iron, Scaled, etc. show some hair under them (normal thing), others like Glass, Elven, Stormcloak Officer (Dwarven and Ebony too), etc. display no hair at all (normal thing). All hoods are alright, too.
Tell me if I missed anything.

Edit: Also tested hats and caps. All seem fine. The only problem with a few hoods is that they show tiny tips of ears. I think it's only for one ear, and not very noticeable either.

I must say, this is the best favor anyone has ever done for me through the forums. I cannot thank you enough!

I believe that if all of these pieces of head wear tested negative for clipping, then it is safe to say that the longest straight hair should be as safe as any other safe hair style in the game.

Really, thank you.

For fun some time to all else who may be reading this, and have access to console commands on the PC, and thereby can change their character's hair at anytime, I strongly suggest switching to the long hair with 2 braids on each side of the face.

Notice how severely bugged this hairstyle is. It literally clips through every hood, hat, cap, and most helmets.

It is really disappointing for me, because this hairstyle is my favorite one in the game.

However, thanks to Arcona Cor, I can choose my 2nd favorite style, without fear.
