Archers should make heads explode

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:23 pm

I cant play skyrim because of that. Ive become so used to Fallout so the fact that i cant cripple people or that headshots dont do anything extra just annoys me.

Its a common misconception that if you shoot the head, the brain explodes.

No, it could be because ive gotten high enough that my character is in god mode, but its pretty annoying how i cant cripple enemies. Im not talking about heads exploding or cutting limbs off, im fine without that, but an enemy with a headshot and not stopping for a second or something even that minor is annoying.

Dunno about exploding heads.... unless it was a magical exploding arrow- normal arrows just tend to make nice, linear holes through things. They don't expand and shatter like bullets can. What I would like to be able to do though, along the lines of locational damage, is hit them in the leg, and see them hobble or go down on one knee, and remain hobbled for the rest of the fight. They could swing melee weapons at you (with no power hits) if you got close enough to let them- but that's it. Shoot them in either arm, and it becomes unusable. If they are only equipped with a 2H weap or bow, that's it, they'd have to run or get killed. Headshots would be 50% extra damage. Stuff like that. At least for human enemies, and lower level monsters. Things like giants, draugr deathlords... they'd have to be made of sterner stuff and harder to seriously cripple, or it would be too easy to disable them.

Only if it can happen to the player also. Get shot in the arm, sorry Dragonborn, no more sword for you. It would only be fair, right? Or are people going to cry that if they get shot in the leg they can't run anymore?

But more seriously: no, I would not want exploding heads with archery.

No, that's plain silly. Keep this cartoonish [censored] out of TES.

There is a locational damage mod, actually...

I don't want their heads to explode. But if I see a bandit with a fresh arrow sticking out of his eye, he'd better not get back up.

Unless necromancy were to ensue, of course.

the crippling limbs system from fallout would work, but not exploding heads

cutting off heads and limbs as a finisher could work i suppose

though they'll have to come up with something like bashing for blunt weapons

it feels rather silly to cut off someones head with a club

Err...to late? Fallout? Oblivion with guns? The can of similarities is open, it's just a matter of time.

A bow is not a sniper rifle. Neither is a crossbow, though it is closer :hehe:

Locational damage would kick ass, even more so if NPC could do it you!!! But I like how the arrows react in the game now, it seems like they pass through my targets the right amount, perhaps it would be a little more realistic if they would pass clean through the arm or leg but it's fine going half way through. I would like to be able to pin someone to something, like if you shot a bandit in the shoulder against a wooden wall it would pin him there for a sec. or two, or if you shot em in the head, instead of slumping over they would be pinned standing up.

An arrow... cannot make a head explode.
Unless it has been enchanted with some form of explosive fire magic.

Eh it could work just make a new arrrow with an explosive spell at the end of it.

The chinese created arrows with arsenic filled tips which exploded due to the sudden and violent increase in pressure upon impact with an person or object. Magic is not needed, just a mod that add's arsenic as an ingrediant and an update to the several arrow crafting mods already out there. From there, an animator and model modder can pitch in with the Papyrus code to make the head explode.
