The UESP article on Clothing doesn't state that circlets can't be worn together with any other item, only that you can't create them at forges.

Do they really take up a slot of their own?

No, you can only wear one headpiece at the time, only one amulet, ony one ring.

Well not entirely true. You can wear a circlet and one other particular piece of headgear at the same time. Probably some type of glitch or something, but it can be done. If you want to know which piece of headgear can be worn with a circlet, click the spoiler:

I find that a bit silly. The character can have dual wield weapons but cannot have 2 rings on?? I understand you can only wear one amulet, becuase the character only has 1 neck but two hands should be able to use 2 rings... Maybe a mod for 1.5?

You can wear archmage robes (which have a hood) with a circlet. Or a mask. But not other hooded robes.

Only on robes or clothes with hoods attached. Although there are few glitches you can exploit.

In that case, surely you should be able to wear ten rings, since each character's got ten fingers, (I assume). That'd offer some nice percentage increases!

I've been able to do it the whole game. it's more of a glitch really. ask others if they could some will tell you the same.

An amulet and a necklace? No, I have never been able to do that. Are you confusing a circlet with an amulet? Cause you can wear a circlet with either an amulet or a necklace, but I have never been able to wear an amulet and a necklace at the same time.

No. circlet's look weird on Argonians. i can wear that Amulet that was in 3 pieces until you restore it. [forget the name] and a necklace.

You're getting the benefit of a glitch, then. I just tried to put a necklace on while wearing Gaulder's Amulet (the one you're talking about), and it wouldn't let me. I have probably 20 different amulets and necklaces on this char, and none of them can be worn at the same time, in any combination. Same on all my chars.

I think that may be a glitch specific to that particular amulet. The UESP says you can wear that amulet together with an amulet of the nine.

I think you have to be naked to put both on. i'm not sure. you may have to wear a certain kind of armor.

Why stop at two rings? Humans have ten fingers! And ten toes. Plus, you can wear more than one ring per hand. Oh, and bracelets? You could probably steal a giant's ring and wear it as a bracelet.
