Creation Kit High-Resolution Texture Pack

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:36 pm

Sorry if this has been asked already but tried to do a search on it and my tiny little brain could not find the answer on here or even google.

Was wondering if when you installed the Creation Kit dose that automaticaly enable the hi-res. texture pack or do you gotta do something to enable that? I'm assuming its automatic but wanted to be 100% sure.

Again sorry if this has been asked already and in advance much thanx and appreciation for the help. :thanks:

There is a "Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC)" page on the Steam Store, so just go there and activate it. Just search for "Skyrim" on the Steam Store and you will see it.

So no, it doesn't come with the Creation Kit.

The Creation Kit is an entirely separate program that loads and allows you to edit the content of the installed game and or mods. The Hi Res Texture Pack is a mod, and hence needs to be downloaded separately but does not need the CK to run or be installed.

You can have one or the other or both.

They are completely seperate things, the only thing similar is that they are both accessed via Steam. The texture pack actually appears as an available DLC in Steam for Skyrim that you "buy" - don't worry it's completely free but you have to click a button like you're buying it. That enables for your Steam account it just like a separate expansion/DLC download and then it'll send you the content (3.2 GB or so).

The Creation Kit is found in an entirely different way, you have to click on the "Tools" menu in the downloads drop down link and then look for "Creation Kit". Rather unintuitive if you ask me as it's just a long list of tools for all sorts of Steam games, with no indication that it's tied into a specific Elder Scrolls game. Anyways, hope that helps.

A little bit off-topic, but what are the chances for an High-res pack for xbox? Downloadble from xbox live.

As we saw with Battlefield 3 they made it optional to install a texture pack to improve the graphics, is there any chance bethesda will release a highres texture for consoles?

And I know, I know nothing on consoles can be considered high-res. but I always appriciate better graphics :)

It won't run. It taxes high end PCs.

I would say none. The High Resolution Texture Pack released for PC raise the RAM requirements for the game quite a lot, and need more several times more RAM than the 360 have.

I guess it's possible that they release some minor high texture pack that only change a few textures in the game, but I wouldn't bet on that.

The 360 can barely handle what it has now. I know because that's what I play on. No high res textures please. The system can't handle any more without chugging constantly and that's far worse than fuzzy graphics.

Nice hi-res textures but low res screen!

1680x1050 max res selectable from the options but my monitor goes up to 1920x1080.

Is there a way to edit an ini file or something to force a higher res?
