is there any way to make shadows on medium look a bit better

i hate the shadows in skyrim, they only look good if on ultra, surely on medium they could look a bit better.

If medium is not detailed enough for you and ultra takes too much of a toll on your performance, why not settle for the middle ground (high)?

Anyway, the shadows do look more blocky than they did in Oblivion (which had very sharp shadows) but the performance gains Skyrim has over Oblivion for doing this is massive, so in my opinion its a good tradeoff.

i was really just hopin there was a setting you could tweak just a bit to make em look a little better, there far to blocky

Shadows have never been a good feature of TES games. Even on Ultra, they have issues. Reason, they are CPU rendered, not GPU and the more you do with them, the slower the game runs. There are some INI tweaks you can do, if you are on PC. However, if you are on consoles, you don't want super detailed shadows as they make an uber CPU on a high end gaming PC chug

Note, these are for an early version of the game, not sure if the latest patching has an impact on what you use and how, so make a back up of your INI before you go messing about.

Me, I just don't look at the ground that often and it all works out.

lol cheers CCNA, muc appreciated, i cant help but look at the ground and i blame these damn serious skyrim hd textures for that
