Mages don't give a [censored]

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:55 am

So I just got the master level destruction spells, and I wanted to test out Lightning Storm. So I head outside and blast the hell out of the first person I saw, who happened to be one of my fellow magi (disintigrated her almost instantly, so cool :D). Point is, this triggered the "Rejoining the College" mission, and instead of reloading I figured I'd see what I had to do to get back in. I remember in Morrowind you had to pay a hefty fine, and in Oblivion you had to do community service collecting (quasi)rare alchemy ingredients. So I go to Tolfdir, and he's all like "Oh my, seems like you've had a bit of an incident." He then asks for 250 gold for "damages." Electrocuting a classmate in cold blood is enough to get 1000 gold bounty on my head in Winterhold, but at the actual college where it happened it gets written off as damages and I have to pay a pittance. Just sayin', those mages are some cold MF's.

Lol, It is sad, and the only way to get kicked out of the College is to Kill someone in there.
I was stuck on a glitched quest and needed to find out if Re-joining would fix it. I kept stealing everything, punching people in the face, throwing spells at them and they did not kick me out but tried to kill me and just acted normal if I left and came back >:|
I finally had to kill the Dunmer lady, but it still didn't fix the quest.

Edit : oh yeah, I did Reload it of course.

the dialouge makes it pretty obvious that the College takes a '[censored] happens' view of things.
Somebody gets disintegrated? Whatever, it can't top that one time when someone tried summoning 3 atronachs at once, got ripped apart, and then the atronachs went on a rampage. And that doesn't even compare to what Bob did. I don't really want to go into details, but let's just say it involved Necromancy and brothel...you really don't want to know more than that...

"HEY! Be careful with that Fire!"

I LOL'd at your post OP. And you killed a fellow MAGE that lead to you getting back in, like what? I guess only the strong survive up in the College, lmfao.

No, the intelligent are just tired of arguing about the semantics of giving a damn about explainable causality.

Well I guess after one of your colleagues went and caused the major portion of Winterhold along with most of its citizens to fall into the sea, disentegrating one person isn't going to seem like such a bit deal any more. Yea they blamed that on an earthquake but we all know what the truth is.

That's kind of a sad, but accurate way to put it. Why would disintegrating a fellow student harbor such a petty punishment? Hopefully it's that "[censored] happens" attitude that one might expect from the college, given their stance on magic, and not laziness on Bethesda's part.

Edit: All things considered, when you first talk to the Archmage after Saarthal...

if i were the archmage, i would expel that student and send him/her into the dungeons to rot for a month.
Even if its accident, there should at least be some sort of heavy punishment. Like getting 20 daedra hearts and 20 vampire dusts :D

Wow. Just... wow. I knew the game didn't have any real consequence of your actions, no matter what you do, but... wow...

Now I've had enough of you ignorant savages accusing the college of natural disasters...in fact, some day soon you may find out what kind of disaster a "fire storm" is. Best part is you won't survive it to pin it on us :P

Also, for those saying "If I were Archmage," I kind of was the Archmage when I did it. In retrospect, that would make sense why I just got a slap on the wrist (kind of like getting out of bounties when you're a thane), but I don't think that's how the college actually operates in the game, and it doesn't really matter to me since I just sort of posted this story for lolz.

Hey, how else are they going to pay the janitor overtime for cleaning up the pile of dust and for cleaning the scorch marks off the stone floors?

What do you expect? This is 2012, god forbid there are irreversible consequences for doing something stupid, or need to think before you act.

The next TES will probably be marketed as a "lighthearted first-person shooter romp."
