I'm playing on a PC, and I think there may be a console command to help me.

I recently lost Lydia. No idea where now; but I've been through a couple of minor quests and she's not turned up.

However, I don't think she's dead as the my new thrall in Solitude won't follow me, saying I've already got some one following me.

How do I either find Lydia, summon Lydia or free myself from the binding to Lydia?

Hit the ~ key, type (without quotes) "prid 000a2c94" then hit return, on the next line type "moveto player". That will teleport lydia to you. If she's not dead. If she's dead, you'll have to find her corpse, hit the ~ click on her corpse and type "resurrect". She'll pop back up alive.

In the future, with google, you can type the name of the character and "uespwiki" it will take you to a page about that character where the number you need (ref id) is listed above and to the right of it's portrait. I use this ALLOT.

Apparently some people have found her imprisoned in the Whiterun Prison ... perhaps check there?

If a follower leaves for some reason, they usually go back home.

But they have to walk, so if you're in Solitude with Lydia, she has to walk to Whiterun - takes a while.

You may need to use the Steam workshop, because some people on Skyrimnexus report having troubles to enable it using the NMM.
