Skyrim DLC War against Thalmor?

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to start where the civil war finished off and have a war against the Thalmor?

This is my personal opinion:

- Any DLC regarding the Thalmor should be independant of the Civil War, but it should of course reflect any decisions you've made during the game (Is the Emperor alive, which faction fights the Thalmor, etc). Some people simply don't want to be locked out of content because they don't feel obligated towards choosing a side, which is a reasonable stance given the moral ambiguity of the Civil War.

- If the DLC is about the next Great War, it needs to be done carefully. If a new zone is created, there needs to be a logical reason for the player to visit that zone during war time. It will also likely involve populating the current map with more forts, dungeons, etc. A combination of both will probably suffice

- If it is NOT about the next Great War, there's certainly less limitations. Perhaps you're visiting an island near Summerset? The possibilities are much more varied here.

As long as you can choose to join them on a character instead of fighting against them.

I doubt we'll see a Thalmor DLC.

Though the Thalmor have a small presence in Skyrim, it's not logistically possible for the Thalmor to launch a direct invasion of Skyrim, they'd need to sail all the way to the other side of the continent, like if California decided it wanted to invade New York by sea. So anything involving a large scale conflict with the Thalmor would almost certainly need to happen in Cyrodiil, Summerset Isle, or a province explicitly not Skyrim and I definitely feel that the Dragonborn in a legend, and a hero for Skyrim, not other places.

Plus a 'War' with the Thalmor would almost certainly involve a repeat of the 'attack the fort' quests we saw in the Imperial vs. Stormcloaks questline which I personally hated, and which most people agree are poorly done.

There are better ideas, and I think a resolution towards the Thalmor is a story for another chosen one hero. Perhaps TES VI.

I'm not sure how Bethesda are going to do the Thalmor story, it's too risky to conclude it as DLC and I don't know how it would play out as another stand alone game, maybe it could be set in another province bordering with Summerset isle? If that happens Sea Elves can be added.

Also if it concludes from where the Civil war ended, I have to ask: why would the Empire/Stormcloaks be attacking Summerset Isle so soon? They just came out of one war weakened and then they throw themselves into another? It's somewhat illogical.

So here's my idea: You're asked to protect a group of sea merchants to acompany them to Hammerfell but before you arrive at the shores you are bombarded by a Thalmor vessel, you get blown into the water but you survive the blast and you and some of the crew wash up on the Shores of Stros M'kai, only to be captured by a group of Thalmor Soldiers, and on the way to their fort the Thalmor are attacked by a group of Alik'r warriors and they release you and the other Thalmor prisoners, you are helped up by another prisoner and he gives you a sword and you must help the Alik'r fight off the remaining Thalmor and retrieve your equipment. After you have retrieved your equipment you are given the choice to explore freely or follow the group of survivors back to a nearby city and learn about what's going on in Hammerfell, much like the begining after you get out of Helgen.

Only way I believe this is going to work is if there is a band of renegade Talos worshippers & a Thalmor Fort/Village near or in Skyrim. PC ofcourse will also get a choice to take sides. If Knights of the Nine is any indication of a small expansion pack, I think we might see something to do with the Vigilant of Stendarr as well.

Question in the title: Nope

General Thalmor content in DLC: Yep

With the addition of the Thalmor threat, they have laid the groundworks for the next 2-3 titles, so there won't be any war or "solution". And I also doubt we will get the option to join them, since they clearly are depicted as the bad guys. Correction: They aren't simply bad guys, they are f*ckin Nazis. I mean honestly, whoever wants to roleplay a Nazi needs to get some f*ckin help. (Even though the uniforms looked freakin awesome ^^)

A war with the Thalmor as a DLC is very unlikely, methinks. However I also think that we will get content where we get to kill more of them, maybe something like a secret internment camp you have to liberate or something. From the forums, it just seems like to big an opportunity pass up.

To push the Thalmor out of Skyrim and the Empire maybe. To finish them off it'll have to go to Summerset Isles and that'll I doubt very much will happen.

Yes, I do... but it should vary on whether you chose to help the Empire or the Stormcloaks.

No. I want a great war between Stormcloaks, Empire, Hammerfell, Argonia, and Aldmeri Dominion. And I don't want it in a DLC. I want it big enough to be TES VI. And basically you start as a prisoner of war in an enemy country of whatever race you chose (Thalmor prison if I wasa nord) and yes, I think it should be assumed in the next game that Ulfric's rebellion was successful

I think it might go that Ulfric is successful, but if he does end up winning, I'd prefer that he didn't actually survive the war.

Also, I like your idea about being a POW at the start of the game. You could even just be being transported with your fellow prisoners (think Baton Death March) when your allies launch an ambush and save you.

If there was a Thalmor DLC I'd like to see the option of joining them although as you finish the quest line the Thalmor betray you since I doubt they'd trust a Dragonborn.

I think a "great war" would be a good idea for the next game. But more Thalmor content in a DLC would be fine.

I would like to see a more political (meaning choice based ) game around the Great War idea, not just the Civil Wars, hack and slash. Which would be way to involved for a DLC or expansion. IMO

For a DLC something like our Hero finds out where the Thalmor have been taking the ppl that worship Talos and has to free them and drives the Thalmor out of Skyrim.

Their are hint's in the game about a war with the Thalmor, I just hope it's done right!!

It should be released eventually, but npot yet. I don't think Dawnguard is going to be about the Thalmor, anyway.

I think the next war with the Thalmor should be saved until the next game. You can tell their the looming threat, but I'd rather a really fleshed-out story with them rather than a small DLC. Many characters in Skyrim say that a second Great War is coming, and that this one will be bigger than the last. I can't see this conflict occuring in mass in Skyrim, we would need at least another province (Cyrodill or more likely, The Summerset Isles). This war will be much larger than the Civil War and even the Great War, it needs its own game.
