How do i play my hunter?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:22 pm

Well i do know how to aim my bow so no need there :P
But i do have some close combat and i need some ideas here to as what i should do.
Right now i pull out 2 one handed swords and hack'n slash away but with light armor and now way of blocking i loose health preeeetty fast.
I recently started a mage and found out that backing up on an opponnent barbequeing him with flames i didnt get hit since they swing so slow.
What do you hunters out there do and what perks do you put skill points in?

Maybe try one, one handed weapon? That way you can block.

I'd recommend that you just carry around a dagger for when you're forced into combat, perhaps with a nice enchantment on it. My character carries an a enchanted dagger, and it deals quite a bit of damage (as a Mage, he uses it when his magicka runs out).

I'm playing this type of character right now. I have a light shield and a Blades katana for when I need to do some close quarters combat. Unless of course, I'm going for the sneak kill to which I would use my elven dagger instead. Maybe you could use some ice destruction to slow down your opponents as well?

Hi,

try bashing with your bow. And run away from close combat whenever possible.

My hunter uses a dagger in one hand and flames in the other ( that is as high as she will go in distruction ), conjure familar ( again the wolf is as high has she will go ) Bow of course. Later she may pick up a nice sword 1h of course.

Sneak!!! big thing, you can't track an animal if it see's or hear's you comming and of course that help's with bandit's and predators also.

Illusion: pacify, muffle, fear... I won't use invisibility.

Smithing will only be for the "found" things, leather, hide, fur and ingots to improve her own weapons. "found" weapons don't get improved just sold as do extra ingots.

alchemy is another way she will make money, but mostly just the things she will need.

Now I know she won't lvl fast and really I don't want her to, but that's just the way that I am playing her. She leaves the sceen, fighting is her last resort. A more agressive play style than what I am useing would alow for faster lvl'ing. She is my "I want to relax" character. NO dragons, I'm not doing alot of cave or ruin exploring with her....yet anyway.

Its a templet anyway.... My battlemage & warrior are both very agressive, so she's not.

Yeah this what I do,it works just fine with stamina.
My stealth archer is a pure archer, she never uses a dagger.
She does carry a dagger with her for roleplaying purposes,to skin pelts and things like that but never uses them in combat.

A dagger doesn't have nearly the punch of a 1H sword, usually. You want to kill them as quick as possible after they get in your face, and a dagger is the weakest weapon to do it with. Get a light shield, too. Block their hits, bash them, get in your hits. Repeat till done.

Thanks for all the responses. So far i have given the sword and board a go and it has been a great improvement to my character.
