Help on Rogue Character?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:17 pm

I know I already asked this about a week or two ago but I really need some more tips. I already got the basics down. I know I need to have sneak, archery, one-handed (for dual-weilding daggers), light-armor, high stamina, maybe speech, and I'm going to be a dark elf. I will join the thieves guild and the DB. But I'm not sure, do I need some type of magic? Also, I am thinking of using alchemy for poisons, enchanting to fortify health, and smithing only for weapon improving since no NPC does that. Any tips on how to make this class better would be great and tips on what skills to take out if any.

I added Illusion magic to my stealth archer type character but I didnt have any melee combat skills so being able to calm enemies when I got caught with my pants down was helpful. Also the invisibility spell comes in handy and making enemies fight each other is always fun to watch.

In the past Rogues have either had Illusion magic and Alchemy(Oblivion) or only a combination of comabt and stealth(Morrowind). From your build I would say that you should have little trouble with the class as long as you play smart(which is the prefered style for the Rogue after all), but if feel you need some sort of failsafe I recomend you increase alchemy.

Adding a little smithing won't harm, but combined with sneak and highend gear it can make it a bit to easy.

Yeah, I was thinking of using illusion but I wasn't sure which spells to use since I never used illusion in Skyrim. I only used illusion in Oblivion for the light spell. Used it so much got myself to 100 :)

For smithing, I'm not really looking forward to any high-end gear like glass armor or dragon scale. I'll be using Nightingale armor because it looks like something a rogue would use. Main use for smithing on my part is to make an ebony bow (since you barely see any good bows when you're out fighting) and improve it. Ebony seems to fit better with a rogue since it is black and it will blend in better with the shadows.

Yeah I always thought illusion magic was kind of useless and never used it in the past but I found it very useful for non-melee characters in Skyrim. Now its my favorite school of magic.
