Mother of God if this happens I will never buy a Bethesda ga

I love the Elder Scrolls. For me, there is gaming and then there is Elder Scrolls. The single player experience is essential. Now there are rumors of an upcoming TES MMO. Do think they are just rumors? http://pc.gamespy.com/articles/122/1220926p1.html?

What's the problem? Just don't buy the game.

I wouldn't mind an Elder Scrolls MMO, as long as they continue to release a Singleplayer Elder Scrolls every 5 years. That said, I don't play MMOs.

It's under development by Zenimax, not by Bethesda. So, they'll keep working on the singleplayer ones.
Plus, it's supposed to be set in the Second Era, meaning about 800-1000 years before Skyrim. The time when the Akaviri sat on the Imperial Throne, before the time of Tiber Septim.
I think it might be interesting, but I'll have to look at reviews and such before considering to buy it.

While I'm no MMO fan (played RuneScape for two years, never again) I don't hate the idea, if the game is worthwhile and doesn't turn out like KoTOR did.

The problem is that instead of developing more great single player TES, they will be working on an MMO. Now you can say that they could have two teams, but would divide talent and resources. It is just bad all around, and a death blow to what may be the greatest of the last of the single player games.

I hope not. When devs start that mess the game content goes down hill. Mass Effect took a dump because of that and so did Assassin's Creed. Beth is already skimping on content, they need no help in furthering that.

Bethesda themselves made M'aiq tell us what time it is when it comes to multiplayer:

Multiplayer: "M'Aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you." (Neither of these characters exist. The characters' names are allusions to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/leet and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Cber#The_term_in_English)

This was of course back in the Morrowind days when they still had their head on straight. Pre horse armor and Kinect shouts.

Lol, that sounds like a good Bethesda; where'd those guys go?

i can tell you this:

i have never played an online mmo and never will, as of, right now.

if gamesas created one for the TES series they would instantly have the chance of pulling me into one.

plus, the more tes there is the better. i just can't imaging them putting a crappy team of developers in place or creating a weak game.

i could be wrong, though.

Mmo game's aren't Bethesda's style of game creation.

Yes, really. It is a more turbulent time, and also won't stand in the way of the story in the Fourth Era. Excellent setting for a TES MMO, plus we can maybe finally learn something about the Akaviri.
They'll probably work with some of Bethesda's lore writers too, to get the lore and setting in place.

heck ya. instantly perks me up. akavir lore and gameplay added to the tes series would be sweet. that's an era and timeline that would be nice to learn more about and experience.

An mmo on TES is stupid regardless if it's BGS or someone else doing it. I'll point to TOR, that game was better off being KOTOR3 instead of an MMO.

As long as it doesn't affect the development of TES 6, I couldn't care less.

Meh. I've played World of Warcraft from 2005 to 2011. So every single MMO I play afterwards is automatically a massive letdown.

That being said, it would be interesting if there's any truth to it. But MMOs require huge upkeep and it might mess with the lore bigtime (see: WoW).

irrelevant.

every game judged on its own.

are you actually going to stand behind the rationale that if they were to create the best mmo game to date that it would still have been a bad idea?

the TES lore and series isn't ours. it's not our beloved no matter how many people think it is. it's a game.
