[Voice-command Kinect] Why not PC and PS3?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:53 am

Hello there!

So there will be a kinect voice command function on Xbox 360!

Ok fine! But, for that, you just need a simple Microphone, right?!

There is moves detection or anything else like that!

Why can't we have the same thing on PS3 and PC?

PC will get that eventualy, if not officialy it will be released by modders, maybe even with more functions. PS3 users on the other hand will have to wait and see if Beth does something unique for them.

Yeah i know that mods for that exist! But i like to get official things!

And poor PS3 users... I would be sad to play Skyrim on PS3 :-(

No, a microphone is not enough. You need voice recognition software.

Actually that has already been done by modders months ago.

This. It's not that simple. Beth is using functionality the Kinect system offers, coding an entirely own approach is a bit over the top.

The Kinect already had the voice recognition software so it didn't take much time and effort to do (compared to doing it from scratch). From what I understand one of the Dev's was just messing around with it on his own, Todd and the gang saw it and they liked it so they decided to release it.

It was called Game Jam.

Yeah, I've read, that PS3 has voice recognition also, but it seems that Sony didn't promote it well and it is rarely used.

Microsoft always do deals with Bethesda so that the Xbox get's DLC special content etc.. If you played fallout 3 when it first was released and they started to sell add-ons, but only for Xbox. This is what appears to be happening again, but in the end Pc and Ps3 got the add-ons later, I have a feeling this will happen but for voice commands.

Don't forget that the brains of Sony, decided to make the PS3 very hard to code for. There was an article (can't remember where I read it) of the President of Sony saying how great this will be for game developers so that they will make better games.

Funny how only PS3 exclusives games seem to work great on the PS3. Sony I believe taught these comapnies how to use the PS3 so the games would be good. Unless you were willing to pay Sony how to use the PS3, you had to figure it out yourself.

So if anyone is to blame on the state of the PS3 games, look no further than Sony. Would be one reason why they are loosing billions of dollars this year.
