The Best thing about Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:01 am

So yeah what is the best thing about Skyrim? For me I would have to say mods however since only those of us on PC get them I am not sure that counts, so what is the best thing about Skyrim, the base game that everyone gets regardless of platform? What attracts you to the Elder Scrolls games?

That the game result a masterpiece even with his (many ) faults.

And this means that the strengths are in majority at the end,but most of all that there is still something that "force" you to play it for hundreds of hours -like the old Tes games.

The level of freedom the player gets, while not as much as some other games, still gives me a buzz every time. You choose where to go, what quests to do, what kind of character you want to RP etc. Not to mention that the province of Skyrim is a beautiful work of art to take in :)

Like i said yesterday, presentation. The graphics, even though not state-of-the-art, still impressive. Music, beautiful. World and dungeon design, some amazing attention to detail in some places. And even the dragons are quite impressive, visuals and sounds -wise.

Usually i just shorten that to "shiny and dragons" :hehe:

How beautifully detailed it is!

Oh and yes, the freedom. I still take a look at the game sometimes and think 'this is amazing!'. We're given a huge, beautiful, detailed, amazing world to explore, and the means to create a character who is whoever and whatever we want. :tes:

Attention to detail in the world.

Flying insects, non-hostile wildlife, fish, beautiful weather effects and stunning vistas.
The gazillion of different alchemy ingredients and the different sounds they make when collected.
All those little things, you can even see ant trails across tree stumps.

The freedom. Many games claim to be "open world" (Dark Souls, KoA: Reckoning are recent examples). For me the world isn't truly open unless you can really move around it without restrictions. The Elder Scrolls games excel at this. That's what makes them the best games I've played.

Edit: It's nice to see a positive thread around here for once.

This is my favorite thing also, these small details that makes the world feel so much more realistic and believable.

Since you've asked for the best thing about Skyrim, I will only give you what I think is the one best thing about it (though i have an entire list).

The freedom to play the game in any which way you desire.
