Kill all guards? *spoiler* : V

*spoiler alert*
so i use a guide book when i get stuck and last night after completing the quest of the forsworn conspiracy, i go back at the end to talk to eltrys and the guards are all there saying they're going to frame me for the murders. so i freak out all "what the hey!" and turn to get my book to see if i did it right and if this was supposed to happen. well, i bump my controller in the process, smacking a guard and they all start attacking me. i fight back. "bounty added"... then "bounty removed all witnesses killed" then more come in.. they keep coming. i keep killing. i thought of reloading it, but it had been forever since my last save. so i keep fighting till they're all dead and no more came in.

now there are no guards in markarth. i left and did a few other quests, come back to markarth, still none. then i find out i'm supposed to let them arrest me to start the whole escape from cidhna mine quest. which i'm guessing i can no longer do now.

has anyone ever killed all the guards in a city? do they ever come back? how badly will this mess up future progress? my main question is... what now?

They should respawn if given a few days

has anyone ever killed all the guards in a city? do they ever come back? how badly will this mess up future progress? my main question is... what now?

-In Whiterun I went on a rampage killing the Guards. They ended up respawning back.

-In Riften I killed the Guards that are near the entrance and in the Guard towers. After a while they respawned. When I talk to them they say "Don't hurt me again".

It doesn't mess your game up if you kill them.

Go into the Dwemer museum. (enter the keep, turn right) There should still be guards in there.

Nope, I didn't think was even possible to kill all the guards in a city. Plus, I never attack people in cities as it never fits my style of role-playing (most of my guys keep to themselves) unless I have to in a quest. By the way, you weren't meant to let the guards arrest you and then there is a quest where you have to escape the mines.
