Forced resolution change?

Is there a way to force the resolution to widen the screen without affecting the vertical res?
The max res I can use is 1680x1050 but my 27" monitor is normally on 1920x1080

Due to resolution changes to go into and out of the game, I have some difficulty when I alt-tab for whatever reason. I don't like Windowed mode bacause it doesn't fill the screen.

Some of the effects appear odd because of stretching to fit a screen format which is wider than the resolution. Things that fly or fall seem to veer off or speed up or slow down as they cross the vertical centre of the screen.

Aiming headshots with arrows at long range is a PITA because they fly over the targets head, even when aimed at the neck. I have even aimed perfect body shots with the bow zoom skill and the arrow still flies over their head. It's like the screen has been stretched up to prevent the characters appearing fat and the characters have been shortened slightly but the hit-box is still for the taller character. All my arrows above the vertical centre hit higher than aimed and all the ones below centre hit lower. I can also be 6 inches left or right from a rock and have a perfect view of my targets entire body and the arrow bounces off the rock right in front of me, it's like I was aiming at the rock I am hiding behind. None of this sems to happen in windowed mode and the arrows hit where they are aimed.

At this stage, I don't care that the characters will appear fat. I have maxed out all the perks up to level 72 for my Archery but half the time, I can't even hit the target. From trying it out in Windowed mode, I know that it works perfectly when the res hasn't been stretched.

I don't mind losing a bit of the top and bottom of the screen if the horizontal res increase also forces a larger vertical res than my screen allows. All I want is the hit boxes where they should be.
