Bethesda is finally letting us arrange the inventory by valu

It requires kinect. Youve got to be kidding me

Another great addition: You can use Kinect's voice commands to sort your inventory items by category, arranging them by value or weight by saying "sort by value" or "sort by weight." Sadly, this much-needed Skyrim feature is only supported by Kinect's voice commands. If you don't have Kinect, you're out of luck.

PC gamers can use mods for sorting. PS3 owners are the only ones out of luck.

It svcks that it is only for Kinect. They really do need to introduce it without kinect :/

Slightly off topic: I play on PC with a controller. Gamepad just more comfy for my hands when I play. Anyhoo....anyone know of a mod that simply organizes items alphabetically WITHOUT turning the menus into an excel spreadsheet (which I loathe)? I actually like the new UI a lot but just want things listed alphabetically.

Any help?

Thanks!

In an interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOQsLPw8_5c&feature=g-all-u&context=G235cef5FAAAAAAAAJAA for Destructoid, Pete Hines basically said it cant be done because there are not enough buttons. That is total BS. On PC, there are more than enough (thankfully theres a mod for that) and on consoles in Oblivion and Im logically guessing Morrowind (never played it) you can sort items. Saying "not enought buttons" is a cheap excuse. Its great Bethesda has this free post-launch support, but why cant we get something so simple as a toggle for sorting? It doesnt require more buttons, just a toggle in the UI.

Anyways, I cant wait for more free updates and possibly DLC announcments in the near future.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend_and_extinguish (called "Extinguish" after Microsoft attempted to whitewash the phrase)

Coaxing developers make exclusive features for the Kinect that aren't necessarily reliant on the less specialized components (like the mic) and making artificial delays for DLC release on other platforms fits into the Extension phase.

MODS ARE NO EXCUSE FOR THE LAZINESS OF BETH IN SOME REGARDS!

Sry for Caps Lock, but I just can't stand this reasoning.

It would be as easy for Beth as including the most wanted mods and the Skyrim Script Extender in a patch, while giving the Modders credit (in this example a bit of money or including NPCs named after them in the DLC or...).

Wth? There are more than enough buttons, thats a BS reason to not implement it properly. Context sensitive buttons have been used for YEARS on the consoles, I mean just look at Dragon Age for instance. Press one button and it alters the rest of the face buttons to a different menu of commands. And even in skyrim half the buttons are not used when in the menu's. For instance the shoulder buttons do bugger all, and neither does the anologue buttons (L3/R3). Thats four buttons right there for the task, and could easily be used for context sensitive menu commands also.

This smacks of Beth lazyness, they can implement it for Kinect but cant be bothered doing it properly so that everyone can use it. To even utter that statement, when the PC suffers from no such "drawback" and when there are options available to implement it for all on the console is not only moronic, it speaks to the mentality of Hines himself; In that he is always making excuses as to why his and his teams work is not up to spec. When you have a leader in place who cant muster the brainpower nor garner the support to implement features properly, your on a downward spiral.

Sorting items is the biggest bug I have with the game. Being on PS3 the only option I have is to carefully rename items when enchanting, but really I shouldn't have to. I would also like to see something like a swag bag that items you pick up go into and they only go into your main inventory if you move them there. All too often items I pick up I just sell and it is a pain to have to sort through stuff I want to keep to find them all.

Im not gonna be surpised if new cases for Skyrim starts to be released saying "Better with Kinect" on them, that include the 1.6 update. If that happens then I would think money from Microsoft would have been involved with this update. When your new device is only good for simple games and cant bring in the hardcoe crowd, having both Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim saying "Better with Kinect", amoung other games, would be a very good business strategy for drawing that crowd in.

Yeah, it svcks. I've already paid for two 360s. I'm not buying a kinect to use something that could be implemented without one. Microsoft is really trying to reach into wallets and Beth gets paid.

This is sounding a lot like the crap that BioWarEA does. Man I was hoping that Bethesda would never go there.
