I use it, but then my character is a healer/alchemist, so potions are far more important to my play style. One downside is it actually reduces the cost of some potions if you want to sell them, but by this point the traders can't afford to buy more than few off you anyway. If you use archery a lot, maybe put that first.

I took that perk with my Assassin. I didn't need my poisons helping what I was killing.

If you are going up the alchemy tree its worth it, as it stops you getting so many junk potions. But as said it will reduce overall sale price but its not a biggy when you can gaurantee a potion will not have a downside.

I'd wait until Alchemy is maxed out before taking it. That way the potions and poisons you make cost a lot and it's easier to level. But yeah after that, pick it up. It makes Alchemy way more fun and also even more useful.

I tested it out a while ago. If a potion has multiple effects and some are beneficial and some are poisonous, either all the good effects are removed or all the bad effects are removed. This is determined by which effect is most expensive. It will reduce the selling price of potions, if you like making multieffect potions for money.

I never take it, but then I always design multi-class characters and need the perk point elsewhere. For someone heavily specializing in Alchemy it's not a bad investment; some of the better compound potions come with nasty side-effects (Paralysis, for one) and such characters take a lot of potions, so removal of the deleterious effects has long-term benefits. Yeah, it can kill sale values, since some of those same nasty effects are among the most valuable, however such characters seldom sell potions in large enough quantities for it to matter.

Now, if you're just making potions to sell it's probably a waste, since you want higher values, however clamping the values makes it a bit easier to sell them to some merchants.

Well yes. That's the whole point.

This part svcks though. It should decide based on what you chose in the potion creation menu. One has to wonder why they didn't implement it this way as it is fairly obvious.

A small price to pay if you make any sort of significant use of potions or poisons.

If you max out Alchy. Then what are you leveling? You need 100 in Alchy to get the perk anyway.

Thanks for all the replies! The gp thing I assumed. So I will keep splitting potions between what I use and what I need to level alchemy to 100. Then after archery is maxed, I will take the perk. Most of the strange 'brews' I make can be used for poisons.

I am certainly not much of an alchemy scholar. I just spam potions based on the hundreds and hundreds of flowers I pick. I tend to gather ingredients, then just wildly create as many potions as possible and sell them all.

One of these days I'll pay more attention to alchemy, but I just haven't yet.
