I'm guessing PC, since he said he has v1.5 ...unless consoles got patched today, I still haven't turned my PS3 on.

How big are your save files? I read a thread recently where people talked about game becoming unstable when save files get too big.

If you included your specs that might be a bit helpful

Sorry for the noob-ish question, but what do you mean by "save files get too big" and how does that happen?

Save files can grow over time. Mine are running about 12Mb right now. However, some people had some issues in their games where the save files grew to huge sizes, many 10's of MB. This was mostly due to glitches and some other issues that have been patched out.

In other words, this is not an issue anymore, unless people are still playing on a Save that did get huge.

I play on PC (pretty good system), and I use no mods. To the best of my knowledge my save files aren't bloated. And I haven't experienced many problems during my time playing Skyrim. I have had random crashes, but only a handful until lately. Recently the frame rate has started svcking and the random crash rate has gone way up. After 1.4 my frame rate seemed to improve, but after 1.5 it seems to be worse than ever. It was so bad last night that I got too frustrated and had to just step away and not play the game.

Can anyone give me any hints about what causes frame rate issues, or point me to a site or link that addresses those things?

Skyrim 1.5 crashes a lot more for me than 1.4, but I know it is due to one of 50 mods that I have installed. I am just too lazy right now to figure out which one.

Edit: In answer to the post above, I also have noticed more frequent situations where the game gets bogged down until it is closed and restarted. Frame rates will drop from 35 (max allowed) to the low 20's or upper teens and will stay there. I do not know why, but assume that something not in the save file is causing a problem.

My graphic card is Geforce GTX 560 Ti (GPU memory 1GB).
It looks very smooth. And my system memory size 24GB !

But!.....CTD still happen in every place of map.

1.Reinstall doesn't work.
2.To check off all MOD doesn't work also.
3.To rollback V1.4 patch doesn't work too.

There is a lot of same problem report in this forum.
I don't want skyrim DLC.
I want V1.6 patch.
And,please solve all bugs!

Do you have all the latest drivers installed? Plus, do you have any mods?

I've a GTX 560 Ti, too, and 20+ mods installed with 0 problems here...I use the latest beta Forceware drivers (301.24).

I'm on 360 and have noticed a rise in the number of times my system freezes( 360 version of a CTD), and the amount of "flashes" that go across my screen. Since 1.5 I have to save before and after leaving an enclosed area(load screen) just to buffer myself from freezing, and the "flashes" are textures zipping across the screen instead of just showing up in place, for example: if I'm near an area with a gravel/rock texture I will sometimes see the texture flash across the sky, or when changing weapons there will be a smudge/streak of colour going to my hand( just for a fraction of a second). All this was present before patch 1.5 but seems to have worsen since 1.5 even when I start fresh, I have tried 5 different toon's since patch 1.5 and it is in every save?
It's not game breaking and my saving habits have saved me from loosing the progress I made, it's just a little disorientating when the flashes happen during a fight and I'm trying to switch from a ranged attack to a close quarters attack.

I tested newer version driver. But it still doesn't change in my skyrim...

The crash trouble suddenly start from "2012 April" in my game.

(I have not change my hardware setting so far.)

There is no such a serious bug formerly.

This is most strange point of skyrim crash trouble.
