Patch 1.6 (PC) 'new bugs' list

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 10:29 pm

I'll start it off... The extra mouse icon that appears after alt-tabbing. I can't believe that this bug made it through beta testing. It is a bit more than annoying, almost game-breaking I think.

You know, I see this "game-braking" thing thrown around so easily.
I agree that the mouse icon is a bug, but then again the readme specifically states that "ALT+TAB may cause some game instability with some hardware configurations and is not advised."

You DON"T???

If he is smart, he would be blocking Steam's internet access 100%, only allowing it online to update the game, when he chooses.
I have skipped the 1.6 beta and have yet to turn Steam "on" for 1.6, alot of my mods need updating to run with 1.6, so I'm waiting it out.
Been hard to not get it for horse combat, but judging from all the videos I have seen it's something that's kinda cool but not something to get overly excited over.

It's annoying, and concentration breaking, but not game breaking if you learn to ignore it, or avoid alt-tabbing, or alt-tab really carefully (I forget how, but I could get it to go back in without the issue). Game breaking would be CTDs, MQ failures, broken stats, backwards enemies, things like that.

'almost game-breaking' is what I said, and I will stand by that statement. If my attention is drawn to watching the 'other' mouse icon, or I try to aim an arrow using the 'other' icon, well that to me is a wee bit game-breaking. In the case of aiming, it could trigger a re-load as the thing that you missed, doesn't. Yes, it is an irritant. CTD's were just irritants, as well. they also might cause re-loads. Get over it, so many said... Not game-breaking, they said... Broken MQ's? That's what the console is for, yeah?

ANYTHING that gets between me and enjoying the game is 'almost game breaking'. This particular bug was found in beta, and WAS NOT FIXED! Now, that is game-breaking. Worse, that is customer-abusing.

  • alt tabbing mouse cursor.
  • weapons floating in the air where you've been fighting.
  • followers bumping against you in sneak mode.
  • werewolf kill cams sometimes pause.

Had the mouse cursor in 1.5 so that's not new. Neither are the floating weapons.

That fact that we are at 1.6 and still have to ALT-TAB twice is absurd. Also, you can get around the pointer bug, most of the time, if you SHIFT-TAB to Steam overlay first before ALT-TABing.

If you don't have the game updated to the latest patch, SKSE won't work anyway.

Lol. Alt-Tabbing has caused problems with TES games since TES III: Morrowind. In TES IV: Oblivion, it would flat out crash your game client.

The two mouse cursor thing disappears if you alt+tab again, I can't really tell when this bug occurs since I'm alt+tabbing relatively often and I got the bug only once by now.

I never saw the alt+tab issue until 1.6 patch.

Good tip, I'll try this.

Who is 1.6 out for? PC only? Damn, I just downloaded a bunch of mods, and now I have to wait for SKSE to get updated to use some of them. DURNIT ALL TO HECK.

Some people don't know what *game-breaking* or *show-stopper* means anymore. I don't know if it's because we've become spoiled or what.

And short term memory. Must be because of the iPhone and GPS.

Alt-tabbing has always worked fine for me with Oblivion and Morrowind, and I've sunk 800+ hours in to each. No mouse pointers, no crashing, no nada. And trust me...if there's a problem with alt-tabbing in a game, I'll find it. I'm an ADHD multi-tasking fiend. :P

FYI another work around for the Windows mouse pointer appearing with 1.6 is to only alt-tab out while on the tab/quick menu--you know, the menu with the compass-like selection for items, map, etc. etc. If you alt-tab out while on that screen and back in, you don't get the Windows mouse pointer popping up. Alt-tabbing on any other screen causes it to appear consistently for me, and the only way to get rid of it is to quit the game and relaunch.
