Just wanted to let the devs know...

...that whoever wrote the "The Forsworn Conspiracy" quest needs a medal. Seriously, I just picked up Skyrim a few days ago and I've managed to put some 30 hours into it(I know, not much compared to some of you guys), and so far this has been the best quest. I was disappointed with the Dark Brotherhood quests, mostly because of the bad writing/characters and I'm not generally a big beths/elder scrolls fan, but this certain quest really surprised me.

Sorry, I'm kind of overreacting here a bit, it's just that I didn't expect such good characters and writing from a beths game. I hope every quest in Fallout 4 will end up being like this. Consider this a small feedback from a fan in some lonely corner of the universe.

Take notes bethesda:

The Forsworn Conspiracy quest: Awesome
The Dark Brotherhood quests(yes, every single one of them): bad!!!

Also, Hi! This is my first post ya'll!

I hated the Forsworn Conspiracy quest. In order to escape the prison I was forced to do things I never wanted to do. The quest is also bugged - when the Forsworn and I got to the end of the Dwemer ruin, Madanach left without giving me the key and I was trapped inside.

Fortunately I managed to find a clone of Madanach back in the prison (don't ask why), so I killed him, took his key and let myself out.

Geez. I hate the Reach.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Welcome to the forums, Astiaks, and http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

I didn't think the Forsworn conspiracy quest was all that great. It was above average, but that isn't saying a lot considering most guild quests as well as most radiant quests are poor and as a result boring.

I still really really like Skyrim, its openworld still makes it one of the better games this generation but the quests have been a huge step back from previous titles. A large part of why I love TES games are the guilds, and in Skyrim each guild only has 8 to 10 quests, most of them boring, so I can't really say I 'love' Skyrim...

That's the whole idea behind the quest. You should feel like you've been imprisoned.

For me it was the characters that made it great.
*spoiler alert?!* They weren't exactly saints but somehow you just felt bad for them. At first I just wanted to break out of the mines, get my gear back and do another hour of generic questing, but suddenly I wanted to help the poor bastards, stick with them and break out of the mines like a wild animal!

Ok, the Dark Brotherhood was awesome. The conspiracy was average at best, it also stopped me from going to Markarth again on that save as the guards try to arrest me. So the guy who wrote that quest does not deserve a medal.

No, you're not.

I thought so, too.

The Main Quest was awesome. I only have the Mages and Bards college quests to do and I'm finished.

Oh, The Companion quests I liked very much. The blades, was ok.

I disagree, the entire romp felt disjointed and sparce over the course of the quest, everything about it really...from the silverbloods to madnach. not to mention the FFA at the end in the city? please not to mention the Forsworn are still hostile no matter what save for Madnach and his group (even though he's the leader?) in some random cave. once your in prison things seem so rushed and blatantly artificial in the progression of the quest
.

my two cents

So, in order to accomplish a very hard (implied to be impossible by in game lore) you have to do something that you may not want to do...

Sounds rather realistic to me. Forcing a character to go against their morals as the only option available is something that happens in the real world. Why should a game be any different?

Bar any glitches, the Foresworn quest line was well written and engaging. I did like the dark brotherhood questline, almost more then oblivion due to a couple things.

1) The overall plot was much more epic...kill the emporer? Yes please!

2) The rewards were pretty good gear wise.

3) Babette's character is cool.

Now, that being said, the rest of the characters for the DB svcked...bad. I far more enjoyed working for Lucien LaChance in Oblivion then Astrid? Asgrid? The girl leader whatever her name is.

There are some very well written sidequests floating around, bethesda did a great job.

Could any tell me what happens in this quest? I have yet to get around playing it.

I wouldn't expect Fallout 4 to have good writing if Bethesda is writing it. In fact you can expect the main quest to be another one of those “you’re forced to be the good guy” rubbish.

I have to agree with this. The quest did a lot of things that I felt were out of place for my character, but I am in prison, what else will I do to get out? I also agree that it made me feel for them, they are suppose to be the bad guy, but at the same time it painted a story that let you understand their point of view. So really neither is the bad guy, and neither is the good guy.

It was a pretty good quest, but imperfectly designed. When the guards come to arrest you, you shouldn't have an option to resist.

DB was ok. Astrid was the hawtest NPC in the game, bar none. It's the afterwards which is pathetic - moving to Dawnstar, the brotherhood doesn't really appear to rebuild itself.

Thieves Guild was excellent. Except for the Barenziah's crown quest - can't think of a more poorly executed questline.

Odd, Shamus Young calls the quest "The Forsworn Conspiracy" the worst abomination in questwriting in Skyrim, while calling the Dark Brotherhood one of the stronger points overall. I never saw his argument against the Forsworn Conspiracy, but his thrashing of the Thieves Guild writing was perfect, if a bit petty at times.

Maybe you're right, but it felt like a very shoe-horned experience. When you're accosted by the guards, you're given a few "options" but only one of them will lead to a proper end to the quest. If you choose to fight the guards, then you'll incur a massive bounty which you can't negate because one of the guards is marked as essential.

It just seems like a very lame way to force you into prison.

I personally loved the DB questline, and the Forsworn Conspiracy.
Also, in the Forsworn Conspiracy ...
Spoiler
you don't HAVE to side with the Forsworn. Simply kill Madanch and run ;)

Loved Oblivions DBH quests, especially the one where you act a guest in that manor (can't remember the name right now). Really fun.
