Running around with J'zargo. He let loose with sparks in the Black Star quest. Acting normal. Fast traveled to Winterhold. Went into the star and all that. Finished it. Went traveling down the road and stopped at Stillborn cave. Went in, met some falmer and their charus. J'zargo just stands there like a punching bag till he takes the knee. I did give him equipment in the fort under the lake around the end but I sold it to that elf merchant at the college in winterhold.

Any fixes? Do I let him go, and tell him to follow me again?

Haven't seen anything on the web except there's better mages to be followers even though j'zargo levels up with you and doesn't have a cap.

Does giving them an Enchanted Ring (from Sarthaal) bug them out? A Torch?

but no, that is unfortunate. I've had a similar problem with Lydia, but it usually goes away after a while on its own (like a few minutes or after I've traveled somewhere else). Because it doesn't stop with you, I'd recommend sending him away and then re-recruiting him again, no worries. He might get his feelings hurt tho :'(

I've encountered that bug a couple of times, for no reason they suddenly stop attacking. Both times we had made it halfway through a dungeon. The only thing I found to fix it was to dismiss them, then save, shut down the game entirely, finally restart and hire them back before they wander off.

I had it happen with Farkas. Did you happen to be sneaking? My problem was Farkas would no come out of sneak mode to attack. He was letting the enemies hit all over him and would not fight back. I had to stop sneaking with himm.

The fix is to simply go through a door that loads a new area. Its annoying and had it happen in alftand with lydia. Wouldnt even draw her weapon. Not very helpful.

I've been looking for a topic like this. It happened with marcurio for me too.

It occurs when you switch weapons, spells etc. If you never switch, then nothing happens. But as soon as you do they're stuck like that until you enter a new area.

It seems too be a relatively unknown glitch because there isn't much about this issue online at all. We need to spread the word so bethesda can handle this. It's annoying.

This also happened to me, with Lydia. I couldn't believe it. I thought maybe she was low on health or stamina, but that was not the case. I was so frustrated with her just standing there and letting me get attacked by Falmer and Chaurus!
