Improperly named item!?

Doing the Companions quests with a follower, and in a chest inside a fortress I come across Elves "Boots" of Eminent Stamina.

It's not a pair of boots. It's the elven chest piece.

I'm confused now.

My guess is that it is simply a naming oversight or a glitch. Probably the former.

...it was referred to as a staff but was in fact something else...

I've found these "boots" too. They also come in Orcish.

I half-expected this to be another case of someone thinking "Castle Dour" is a typo for "Castle Door." But the reality is far more interesting!

You do realise that even as you wrote that someone somewhere was fulminating about the fact that the writers of Skyrim just can't spell...?! :D
