Empire biggest Mistake

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:18 am

At the beginning of the game they all try to excute you and than talk dirty to you later on in the game which give me another reason to join the Stromcloaks. My top 5 reason of thier mistake are:
1.Try to excute a dragonborn.
2.The White Gold concoud?
3.Banning of Talos.
4.Using alot of Nords and Orc to fight.
5. The Thalmor puppets( Doing thier biddings)

These are the mistake I reckonsthey made during my gameplay.
Anything else?

6. Wrong section.
7. Find existing topic.

Plus I would argue that everything you wrote is false, based on the overall lack of knowlage on the events that occured since Oblivion Crysis and during the Imperial playthrough.

1. They had no idea whatsoever that the player character was dragonborn at that point in the game.
2. They had no choice. It was either that or be destroyed.
3. Included in the Concordat (spelling?)
4. Why wouldn't they allow the local population to sign up? Anyways, I think the majority of the soldiers are Imperials or Nords.. not so many orcs?
5. I get the impression that they try to avoid being [censored]ed around by the Thalmor, but considering what position they are in, they just have to play nice for a while.

These are funny when you realize the actual motivation of the Thalmor and that if they had actually been capable of doing those things they never would've accepted the empire's conditional surrender.

You can win a war and still end up destroyed. Keep that in mind if you ever take responsibility for more than just yourself.

Anyway, either someone move this topic or merge it with one of the existing ones.

Let's the Never Ending Story continue there.

The biggest mistake of the Empire was surrendering to the Thalmor after the BoRR. That ultimately led to all the other things happening: betraying Hammerfell, banning Talos, becoming the thralls of the Aldmeri Dominion, etc.

Winning the Great War and then surrendering to the Thalmor. The elves failed to achieve their objectives (taking Hammerfell and Cyrodiil, banning the worship of Talos, etc...). Then the Empire just gave it all to them. Really smart move. There was no need to sign the White Gold Concordant, except collaboration with the enemy. I still believe that Titus Mede was killed by the Thalmor and replaced by a double. Nothing else explains his betrayal of the Empire.

If you're an idiot I suppose. But then again, I wouldn't put that past Mede.

Being in a war doesn't mean IF YOU'RE NOT DEFENDING YOU BETTER BE ATTACKING.

Some people just don't understand what WAR really is. To be precise, what are the conseqences of one.

War =/= Call of Duty (but hey! it sell great!)

One can be in a war and have troops stationed at the border but not attacking(Sort of exactly like things are currently going in Skyrim, the bulk of the legion is massed at the border.) and rebuilding infrastructure at the same time.

If you want to make a counterpoint make it. Being vague about "consequences" isn't a point.

1. Nobody knew who you are and the one who ordered the execution was one grumpy captain while most other didn't pay attention. Addvar and Tullius are quick to forgive you (at the time, Tullius had better thing's to care about than suspect in justice of his Captain)
2. The Empire came to conclusion they couldn't continue wining and used the opportunity to sign a peace before Thalmor notices that most of their remaining strength was a bluff. And Empire did not survive for millenniums because they did stupid mistakes like "Screw logic and die for courage!"
3. Skyrim and Cyrodiil are both filled with Talos Worshipers (other provinces not so much). The difference between two provinces? One understands that thy just need to keep their mouth shut for some time while others don't. If Cyrodiil, which possibly has even more Talos worshipers, can go through all this without big troubles so could Skyrim
4. The difference between the Empire and other factions: Empire has the least amount of racism. Nords were always loyal subjects of the Empire (some would claim they are its main army) and many Orcs owe their lives to the Empire (as they saved them from Redguards and Bretons at start of the 4th Era). This is not an real Opression, no matter how much Ulfric wanted to show it as that.
5. The Empire tolerates them but does not do their bidding. They themselves do not hunt Talos worshipers and only tolerate the Thalmor's presence as they are still not prepared for war. And if you payed any attention while playing you would have noticed that neither Thalmor not the Empire are hiding the fact that they plan to start killing one another again. Thats not what a Puppet does
