skyrim is my first

I am a competitive FG tourney player but lately with the patches, me having to keep relearning matchups I'm just burned out from the grind. I needed something to enjoy and give my brain a break. So I have always loved fantasy stories like LOTR and A Song Of Fire and Ice and skyrim seemed like it had everything cool I wanted to do. I can say after only putting 20 hours in it does and more.

The problem is I have never played an RPG like this as I have never had the time. So I have no idea how to rank up or what I should be building and believe me I have read the guides. I'm one of those people who gets something after I'm shown.

So here is where I'm at. I'm a level 15. My archery is lvl 50 with Kelvin bow (fine). Normally out in the open its all I use. I love archery. Then in the dungeons I like sword and shield or dual wield. Problem is magic users keep me at good distances so I have to use bow again. I like light armor like eleven and glass for looks. It just looks like I fit in the world better rather than big crazy deadric armor.

So what do I rank UP? How do I find enchantments and enchant weapons and how do you cap out armors lvl and all that good stuff?

I love this game and what I have done so far. Its a great change and a wonderful escape.

There's no right or wrong way to play. Rank up (I assume you mean choose perks?) that sound like your cuppa tea.

But I noticed you like light armour, bows, shields and 1-handed weapons, so pick perks for those. It's so easy to level up in Skyrim, you'll have them maxed before you know it.

In order to have enchantments to put on weapons, you first must find a weapon with an enchantment and disenchant it at an Arcane Enchanter station. This will destroy that weapon, but put its enchantment in a list of available ones to be applied to other weapons. Once you learn an enchantment, its always there to be applied to a new weapon. Certain enchantments are unique, and cannot be applied to new weapons... usually the weapons that have those enchantments will not be disenchantable, though sometimes they are. Check the wikis if you have a question there. The strength of the new enchantment will be based on how high your enchanting skills are. You could disenchant a sword that does +5 fire damage, and then apply the fire enchantment to a bow... except your enchanting skill might be high, resulting in a +10 or +15 fire damage new weapon.

Same idea applies for smithing new weapons and armor. You build them at a forge, then refine them at workbenches and grindstones. All items come out of the forge the same, but its when you go to improve them that your smithing skill comes into play.

Additionally, you should be on the lookout for + smithing and + enchanting armor to wear (solely worn when smithing or enchanting), these will give you bonuses beyond your skill level. Furthermore, you can drink potions that will improve your smihing and enchanting above the bonus gear you have too. You can get crazy with this and make swords with a bazillion damage, but one really doesn't need to.

Hope that helps, any questions, fire away. :-)
