Taken aback by this game...

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:09 am

So i decided to do some sub-terranian exploring in mzinchaleft, the out side is amazing, the inside not so much, then i got to the depths and my jaw DROPPED. it's so amazing, one of the most amazing sights i've seen in a video game, right up there is also gildergreen cave or what ever.

Now i have one problem, I keep finding spetims on the falmor, is that correct as far as lore goes? i mean they've been underground for how long? for them to geneticaly become blind they would have to have been underground way before tiber setim took throne right?

on a side note of the side note which would be back to the op, what is the most jaw droping place you've seen so far in Skyrim?

Falmer lairs also tend to be full of the corpses of their more recent surface dwelling victems, who were probably the source of the coins. In some places, the falmer have laid out all the possessions of those they killed.

I can't particularly think of any scene that I classified as jaw dropping. The skyrim caves just cant compare to the real deal in my mind. But I do have to admit, they did a spectacular job given the limitations in place.
As for the money, I'd say it comes down to how often the falmor kill people. You aren't the first person to try and go down there, and more than likely, you wont be the last.

The very first time I went through the door to the blackreach main cavern and saw the size of it and the huge mushrooms and everything, my jaw dropped.

about the money, we see bottle caps and we don't go "he look, bottle cap this must be money! i'm going to pick it up!" we have no use for bottle caps, same as hte falmor have no use for septims seeming how more then likely their society's are based on every one being equal, no need to buy stuff... or am i thinking this over to much?

Either your over thinking it, or its an oversight on bethesda's part. All the same, its not a particularly big deal. You find odd stuff on creatures after they turned a traveler into a snack, maybe its the same for the Falmor? Otherwise, whos to say they bother sorting through most of the stuff and just grab what feels the best in their hands.

It is a rather bad and very obvious oversight but it is not that big of deal if you just pretend you are finding other coins.

There should be very few if any Septims(which are the old currency from the Septim Empire which is the one that ended at the end of TES4: Oblivion) in places like Nordic Ruins or Dwemer Ruins. For Lore purposes those should not be there. In Morrowind they even had Dwemer coins so we know the Dwemer had their own currency at some point so we should be finding those coins in their if anything. In Nordic ruins, that have been closed since before the Septim empire was even an idea, they have Septims in them when you explore the ruins. This makes no sense. It is merely an oversight.

Tradition perhaps? I understand what you are saying though.

Because the Nords would confuse them with mead :P

My character: "Hmm... I wonder how or why this Falmer I just slew is carrying Septims on his person? Nevermind. I'm taking them and am damn happy I'm getting some sort of recompense for the fight this little b@stard put up!"

Some Nordic barrows are truly amazing, such as Dustman's Cairn (the natural part with the word wall) and Bleakfalls. Blackreach, needless to say is very well done too and the most amazing Dwemer ruin I have found thus far is actually Nchuad-Zel. Also, I find every little detail about the Reach and the Whiterun steppe stunning and perfect, and the giant camps (especially the ones near all the hot springs East-Southeast of Windhelm) have a nice serenity. When I walked by the hunters soaking in the springs, I was like "Damn I wish that was me!".

One of my favorite things about TES is that there are lovely views to explore in each game. Keeps me coming back every time

Gold coins doesn't bother me as much as finding fresh edible carrots inside a 50 year old shipwreck, under water.

Because.... It's A Game. :)

(be glad that you're not getting coin drops off every wild animal )

re: scenery..... Yeah, even before I got some visual mods, I had a screenshot folder full of pics of the wonderful views. And yeah - I'd list some of the stuff I've seen as "awesome" or "jawdropping". They did a really great job.

Like a poster said above, I imagine they found them on an unlucky victim and kept the coins because they sound nice when they jingle in their pockets. (I almost said 'because they're shiny'.)
