Skyrim: Dawnguard

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:06 am

If you recognize the username, I'm the one who wrote about Bethesda having no love for PS3. The announcement of Dawnguard was exactly the same. On the post, they said, "Dawnguard will be released in the Summer for XBOX 360." They also talked about a month later release on PC. They said NOTHING WHATSOEVER on the release for PS3. I'm starting to think they have something against PS3. Do you think Microsoft has TOO much power? For example, the month difference DLC release on Call of Duty, and now Skyrim! Battlefield 3 got DLC on PS3 first, but that was only a WEEK difference. Let me know what you think.

Bethesda can't win.

They release a game that has conflicts on a technical level with the hardware that Sony created - they get flamed for releasing a buggy game.
If they were to delay the PS3 release, or forego it all together, they would get flamed for not supporting the PS3 community.

Microsoft buys 30 day exclusivity, allowing their customers who pay for X-Box Live to actually get benefits for paying for the service, and Bethesda gets flamed for not supporting the PS3 community.
But if that DLC were to launch buggy or unfinished, surely once again Bethesda would be flamed.

For what it's worth, if I am paying for X-Box Live, and you are not paying for PlayStation Network, then -yes-, X-Box Live users should get advantages over PlayStation Network users in the form of early DLC.

Its not limited to just Bethedsa. Nearly every developer has to deal with this kind of crap.

This summarizes my philosophy on the subject, and this is why I have an X-Box

You don't have to PAY for the online service to download things. Only to play games online.
