The Kinect lag issues during main quest and overall impressi

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:55 am

Well i started a new play through for the kinect patch and it seems to me that because of the delay it makes certain aspects of the main quest annoying to do with kinect. It was annoying trying to time the delay in to the shout. Everything else works awesome and i have no issues with it (other than the occasional command input the game thinks should happen when I am talking to someone or them to me). Over all great job I really like the extra addition, and i can finally use a piece of hardware collecting dust.

It's not the game's fault. The kinect is limited to delayed and mostly inaccurate commands. Voice commands might work fine, though.

Dont get me wrong it works fine and there have only been a few scripted moments where the game requires you to shout within a certain time limit and that makes it difficult to "time" the shout. The commands work great when it hears you though.

Wait, I thought the Kinect thing was voice only, for Skyrim. You are jumping and swinging are you?

My friend who lives in scotland born and breed there says that unless he speaks in an american ascent the kinect does not respond to any commands he says. so another reason why I would never buy that piece of junk.

No, I'm saying when using the Kinect everything is delayed, but it may actually interpret what you're saying accurately.

LOL no, i am not stupid but it would have been funny if that was the case. What i meant was all the voice commands work great.(for me at least) I don't have a scottish accent.

You have to enable kinect voice commands in gamplay settings

Working great for me too. Obviously it's not going to work with a Scottish accent. The Euro version is supposed to be coming out soon though. I'm really enjoying switching spells and weapons on the fly. People can talk down about how crappy the Kinect is but in this case it is a very nice thing to have. I've had only minimal issues with voice recognition. There is a very small delay for shouts but you just have to aim a little ahead of a moving target. It's not a big deal. Kind of like leading them in archery. But the shouts all work great and it's really nice not to have to go into the menu to select which one I want to use. I also like the Quick Save and New Save commands.

Are you aware of how complicated it is to program voice recognition? God forbid a company based in America calibrates their software to be used by American customers.

I like it so far but some words just do NOT work (example: Fear Spell, equipt right weapon,Light, any spells that you would normally use the RB for that are not spells AKA Vampire's Sight is one just don't work....) n that bugs me also just randomly but alot so far if I use shouts and let them recharge like normally sometimes nothing works after that even if I am saying it correctly, I have to go back to the menu and uncheck the kinect thing than use a shout normally than go back and check it so I can speak it :/ Pretty annoying.
Also besides the lag I don't see much going wrong with it. so ya some issues I have been haven:

Doesnt let me switch weapons even in a hot key
Have to go into menus to even use most spells and click them like normal
Shouts sometimes break the dang thing
Shouts don't always work even when spoken correctly
Spells that normally use the RB bumper that are not shouts don't work and you have to uncheck the kinect settings to USE them
Lag
Spells that are even on the list of one to use do not work

Soooo ya :/

Yeah after playing for several hours i to have seen some issues with the voice commands not working. I have to either wait for several minutes, or do what you did switch it on and off. Even then that does not always work.

No problem here. And Light is actually one of the easiest to recognize and so I have health potion for that so I just say "Equip light!" and I get healed.

That is one thing i really like about the assign command, anything can be assigned to anything. You can really make use of things that you dont normally use(like light)

On my warrior I have Equip Light pull out a torch. But yea it's nice you can assign them to anything. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I have to repeat commands occasionally because it doesn't recognize something but that doesn't happen often.

I just had a moment where I said "Equip dual weapons" and it went "Equip dual light" and wasted two of my health potions. :/ Haha!

I'm curious...why do you use "Equip Light" instead of "Equip Health Potion" ?

I use both, I just find Equip Light much quicker and easier to say in a desperate fight situation than "Equip Health Potion". It's the syllables.

Also, really wish they would have allowed some options using the word "use". Like, for example, "Use health potion". I find saying "Equip" over and over is much more awkward than simply saying "use". I am always like ee-quipp. The game is teaching me to enunciate better.
