Bartering?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:45 am

In my current playthrough I happen to be selling and buying purely from the Khajiit trade caravans. Sometimes getting to one nearby takes some out of the way fast traveling. I was mostly doing this in hopes that it would make them richer and in fact make them have a better inventory. Now does this happen or am I going out of my way for nothing?

I think your level dictates the quality of their inventory. But it would be cool if you could "invest" in a shop that way.

Also it's kind of funny how the game still has tips and pointers how to barter: "don't offer too low or you insult the shopkeeper", from a book about bartering in game. You could actually do that in Oblivion.

Inventory may be something that improves, I'm not 100% sure on that. I do know, however, that the amount of gold Ri'saad/Ahkari/Ma'dran have is never going to change. It's always 750 gold.
Spoiler
And of course there's the fences, Zaynabi/Atabah/Mi'jhad but they only become available if you join the Thieves Guild and get to Level 3 in terms of restoring the guild, and even then you have to complete a small side quest for Tonilia to get them to be fences. Then all three of them have 3000 gold for bartering when you unlock them and 4000 gold each once you reach Level 4.

So unless I do the thieves guild quest I'm wasting my time huh? Oh well I'll still continue doing most of my trading with the one at Dawnstar just won't go out of my way to do so.

I have been on the lookout for a mod that brings it back!
