What's your opinion on a good RP 2-Hand Knight Build?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:28 pm

I've never done a 2-handed character before, so wanted some input. He is either going to be a white knight or a dark knight. My ideas so far are limited but I figured a white knight paladin would be restoration, Elven Armor, while a dark knight would be Daedric Armor with conjuration. No idea what race to play, but Imperial looks appealing. Want to do this character on master, so. So far, blocking is a given and maybe speech for a paladin. I have the hedge knight armor mod too but I think Elven armor looks pretty knightly looking too.

I think you should do Steel Plate with the White Knight. Fire would be nice for the Dark Knight, or lightning.

If I was going to make one I'd make him a white knight. Wearing Steel Plate and using Greatswords, I'd also focus on Speech.
I think Elven doesn't fit the role. My Nord is wearing a full set of Elven armour and it doesn't suit him. I like the armour though because it has eagles on it hehe.

I'd go white knight + elven armor retextured (wintery/white version) + Mace spec most likely daedric 2 handed mace just because it looks freaking awesome ;) or I would download some cool 2 handed mace moods, in fact I might just do that.. now ;D

I'm going Imperial in Elven Armor with greatsword. Elven Armor looks really polished and knightly to me, Elder Scrolls Knightly, not Christian Crusader Knightly.

Skills:

Light Armor
Two-Handed
Block
Enchanting (it just makes sense for a knight to carry around an epic magical sword)
Restoration
Speech

Name: Arcadium Talon
six: Male
Slim Build, Short decorative hair

Story: An Imperial merchant aspiring to be a nobleman by earning it rather than birthright. He ended up in Skyrim on a trade mission of a large shipment of fine guilded fur hides used to make fine clothing. Instead of returning to Cyrodil, he sees the opportunity of the war as a way to prove his worth as a loyal knight of the empire. Although he sympathizes with the Stormcloaks anger over the ban on Talos worship, he finds himself disgusted by Ulfric's desire for power by killing the High King and has had a few instances of bigotry by stormcloaks that didn't help either. Arcadium desires to be a nobleman knight, his goals are to own property in every major hold, attain noble status in every hold (became Thane in every hold), and serve honorably as the Dragonborn under the wisdom of the greybeards. He looks down upon mercenaries as dishonorable, in fact he sees them as little different than common bandits and doesn't hesitate to intimidate them with speech.

I'd say he's not one for the Companions then.

Theres a mod on Nexus that mixes robes with steel plate armor, looks really good imo. I'm going a Paladin type character on next playthrough and I'll be using those.

Except that elves are the bad guys in so much of this game. If you dress all in Elven armour you will look like a Thalmor. I had to switch from Elven armour to Dragonscale, cause I had outfitted my follower the same as myself, and I kept killing him by accident. My character is a lawful aligned Imperial merchant/fighter, but if it looks like a Thalmor it is dead on sight!

A White Knight-style RP fits rather well with the multitude of "Can you please help me?" quests available. If you wanted to go the "darker" route, I'd avoid the Dark Knight as a starting point and simply go for a Mercenary style where gold is your chief motivator. Dark Knight strikes me more as an evil Sorcerer and I'd imagine you would find little reason to quest beyond scouring dungeons for sources of ancient power.

I think I'm gonna switch from my Elven armor to Hedge Knight Armor and use my Atlantean greatsword from my mod. I'm gonna kill the Dark Brotherhood so I can get an absorb health enchantment that I can put on my sword and cleanse darkness in the process. Gonna name my sword "Lichmere". I'm dead broke so I'm just starting the main quest until I can get enough money to obtain the advanced armor perk and buy a horse, I probably should add a horse armor mod for this roleplay.

Paladin Dune! um...I mean BIoHH...
Sorry, you will always be PD to me.

Download the Dremora Race mod and be a Dremora Lord. You can't get more dark than that. They even make the sounds of the DLs. I am currently playing one in the DID thread. I really love these characters.

Whatever you decide on. I would consider Heavy Armor. There is a mod that makes an Ebony type of armor in a white version. I think it may be prenchanted. I know a version of it comes included in the Deadly Dragons mod. It may even be a separate armor file if you do not want the Deadly Dragons installed.

I am suer you will come up with something that works great. you always do.

2hand weapons swing way too slow for me in this game. You miss a power attack and you just get pummeled.

That was brought up in another thread. I haven't had, or seen that issue with anyone else playing 2H. In fact all of my guys are absolute powerhouses. I have never invested more than an additional 50 points into stamina, for any of my characters. I usually lead a fight with with a power attack. Then just finish it with regular strikes. I seldom use another power attack. Miss or not, they seemed to never be in any danger. That is any more so than a miss from a regular swing.

Two handed builds are powerhouses. My current character does enough damage to one shot regular bad guys and minibosses are two or three hits. As the previous poster said Powerattacking isn't needed. Plus the kill cams on every third or fourth swing are just icing even if some of them are silly.

Wow, that is pretty cool that you can play as a Dremora.

Nords are the experts at 2 handed. I wish Beth' would release a Nord armor that looks like the armor worn by the knights of the Teutonic Order.

I think it would suit Nord / Skyrim lore very well.

Other than that I'd go with a Imperial with one-handed (mace) and block (shield) in Ebony.

I have to say that this is a pretty boring playthrough. I'm slow as a turtle and its like whack, whack, whack, really slow and I end up missing half the time because I'm so fat and slow.

In my opinion, the two hand build would be most suited for a Dark Knight.
Foregoing defense and going all out into attack.
A white knight/paladin might look better with a 1-handed + shield, given the whole 'Defender' thingy.
On armour,Dark is obvious,so i'll move to the white knight, wich would look good indeed in Steel Plate,or Ebony.
I know,Ebony is black,but the design is very 'knightly',has a noble touch.
Magic-wise,Dark knights would fit with Fire & Lightning destruction and conjuration, and Fear spells.
White knights would look better with Ice destruction, restoration spells and alteration defensive spells.
