How many Thieves guild quests?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:03 pm

I have completed the main thieves guild story but still need to become a full member... Huh? I'm the damned leader according to Brynolf.

Oh well, never mind.
Tried getting quests from Delvin and Vex and got Whiterun, Solitude and Winterhold but Markath is proving difficult. No matter how many times I go to Delvin or Vex, they keep giving me quests for the other 3 towns that the guild has already got traders for or in Riften itself but I thought Maven was already the contact there :swear: I had to turn a couple of Vex's jobs down because they targetted Ysolda and I'm married to her so I don't want her going to jail. Maybe there should be a bug fix so jobs that target your spouse are filtered out. However, it would be nice to know the details before you accept.

I must have completed well over 100 various quests successfully, even picking ones like Fishing when I know I'm going to get caught too often because my skills are not good enough (keep reloading save game till I'm successful). It's starting to get on my nerves now. After 6 hours of solid work and I still only have 3 traders in the alcoves. I have even recruited the Khajiit caravan for Tonila. How many more must I do before Markath eventually cracks under the pressure so I can become a full member? I'm getting really bored with it now. I just want to get it over with, complete the quest line so I can move on.

For those like me who are getting bored with the same old thing over and over:
If there are any modders out there, maybe a list view with job type, town and target name of available jobs would be nice so you can pick one yourself.

If you are offered a quest in the wrong city, reject and ask agaIn untill you get the city you want. Worked for me.

Have you completed the nightingales. If not that will stop you completing the thieves guild.

Sounds like a painful way to go about it.

I thought you got negative rep with the quest giver for rejecting quests after you've taken them, that's why I've been doing them all and only rejected the ones targetting Ysolda.

They will moan at you for refusing the quests but it will not affect you completing the guild.

There shouldn't be any long term consequences for turning down a job and then asking for another.

The only really annoying thing is that IIRC you don't get the info on what city a job is in until after you accept it and your journal updates, which means you can't just turn it down, you have to take it and then go back and say you couldn't do it or whatever. Oh, and you probably get lip from Vex and Delvin about it.

You only need to do 5 small jobs in each city, once you've done five in a city you can do the City Influence quest for it, and then you're done with that town. However according to the various wikis/guides there are fewer small jobs available for Markarth than anywhere else so you can run through a TON of piddly jobs for the other four cities before you get five for Markarth.

I would think the easiest thing would be to do a save before you talk to Vex/Delvin and then if the quest you get isn't for Markarth, just reload and try again.

Tons of reloading over and over, not my idea of fun at all because loading a save game takes ages on my PC.

I've had a couple of Shill jobs from Vex where she told me about it and I accepted but it didn't appear in my journal. When I went back to her, she acted as if I hadn't taken a quest at all.

Consider yourself lucky. I completed the main thieves guild story before doing all the jobs for Delvin and in doing so triggered a bug. Brynjolf refuses to talk to me, and I can't become guild master at all.
