there's a listing of 189 and I exceeded it. Is UESP wrong? or is my game bugged counting location cleared more than once? Also does "cleared" get removed as enemies respawn?

I want to explore every inch of Skyrim.

There are 343 locations to discover on the world map. I don't know how many of those are dungeons.

Also, the UESP is wrong in its count, and the "cleared" mark does not get removed over time under any circumstances.

Do you have any mods installed? UESP does not count modded locations.

A while ago, I did a quick count in the CK, and there are 397 map markers defined in the vanilla Skyrim data set.
However, not all of them are on the worldmap and some of them only appear after you progress in the main quest.

How come I cannot clear some dungeons. I wipe out everyone yet the dungeon never clears for me... I use Aura Whisper just to locate every enemy and I dispose of them, no clear. Is this a bug too?

Never mind found out another glitch, sigh.
I knew I complete Wolfskull cave before, on Skyrim Wiki: This quest changes the contents of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Wolfskull_Cave while it is active. This makes it impossible to clear Wolfskull Cave, and can also cause conflicts with any radiant quests that happen to send you to the cave, making it impossible to complete those quests. Therefore it is best to complete this quest as quickly as possible after triggering it.

What are these unmarked locations exactly, other than dragon mounds and small camps?

POIs, like adventurer camps, ambushed caravans, necromancer altars, shrines, draugr burial mounds, animal lairs, interesting little spots with some kind of backstory, like a group of corpses or a skeleton who died in a strange position, or some sort of hidden treasure chest, etc.

Some dungeons are just not clearable. There are many of them. Many of the forts that are used for civil war story line cannot be cleared, I've noticed.

But the ones that are clearable, some are bugged. Looking at the clearable dungeons on Skyrim wiki, my belief was correct. Sigh... I wonder if Bethesda will clear a majority of bugs before Dawnguard I can't stand looking at those stuck quest items, stuck misc quests, and to unclear dungeon. It feels cluttered and disorganized, kind wish I can sell these off to a merchant who if requested can buy it back from him and the merchant is unkillable and doesn't move. Problem solved. As for the stuck misc quest that's another issue. I want to go into Dawnguard fresh with an empty inventory slot. A new beginning.

I have located 342 locations. I can NOT find the last 8 noted locations on the map. Been trying for weeks.

Some dungeons will not get the "Cleared" tag because there is a Quest associated with it, and the "Cleared" won't appear until you start said Quest and then go through said dungeon again.

Also, some dungeons have more than one "Boss", and both must be killed before the "Cleared" tag is applied to said location.
