Skyrim install to Hard Drive or not?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:54 pm

I just want to know does it make any difference at all if I install the game disc to the xbox 360's hard drive and in what order.Should I install patches first then do the install or vice versus??I am looking for the best performance that I can get out of on a console.Feedback is need now because I am about to play as soon as I get about 2 or 3 responses.

What I did was I deleted every single piece of Skyrim data on my 360. Then I cleared my cache. Then I installed to the HDD. Then I loaded up the game, installed the patch, and that was that.

You'll most likely notice (slightly better (almost unnoticable) graphics). The benefit of it is quicker loading times, and less lag.

I play off the disk and everything runs just fine. Just keep your number of saves down to a minimum so as not to increase load times.
If you want to install to disk you have to do that first before patches.

I believe I already have patch 1.2 installed.Should I download the rest of the patches first and then install??So confused

Go to your System > Memory > Games > Skyrim and delete the entire category on your Harddrive > Install Game to HDD > Load Game > Install Patch > Play

Depends what you decided to do? If you're going to install, install first, update patch. If you want to play from disk just update patch (1.2 was soooo long ago) :)

Honestly I would suggest you do what I posted if you want to clear out as many bugs as you want. Alot has changed from 1.2 to 1.5 and reinstalling fresh with no previous data will do you justice.

I'll guide you through this straight from my dashboard.

Steps:

1: Hit your Dashboard Button
2: Hit the D-Pad right two times, which brings you to the settings tab.
3: Choose the System Settings option.
4: Choose the Storage option.
5: Choose the Memory option that has Skyrim (I'll assume your HDD, so choose that).
6: Choose the Games and Apps option.
7: Scroll down to wherever "Skyrim" is and press the Y button, and then hit Delete. This will delete everything associated with Skyrim. Your game saves, patches, EVERYTHING.
8: After everything Skyrim related is cleared from your HDD, go back to the main Dashboard and proceed to Skyrim, hit your X button for "Game Details" and choose the Install Game option.
9: Wait for it to fully install to your harddrive.
10: Load the game. Patches will load up, accept and install it, and then play the game.

Ok I forgot that when you delete skyrim data on the xbox 360 it automatically deletes game patches as well.So should I install and just play and I should be set with a fresh game??

Virtous I just delete and it is installing now.Do you think I will get better performance installing it to the HD vs just playing off disk. That's a stupid question of course it will!!!

What about cloud save what is your reccomd 4 that??

Yes, install the game first. Once that's installed 100%, you can load up the game and patches will automatically install, then you can play.

Ok so I cleared my hard drive cache.I assume that it cleared it for both hard drives the 4GB and the 250GB because that's what microsoft said. Then after that I deleted all of my skyrim saves including patches and I am installing everything fresh now.So I will let you all know performance wise how the game goes after 100+hours and thanks to virtous 4 his very helpful tips.:)

You should be great. Keep in mind however that you will still be subject to "Atomic Nirnroots" a while down the road, which won't be fixed until they patch it, unfortunately there's nothing to do about it.

Handy tips. I didn't even know about clearing the cache. I always wondered what happened to all the game updates I'd downloaded for games once I deleted the game itself.
