where can i purchase the soundtrack for skyrim?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:15 pm

hi all!

today i finished college and i was about to catch the bus to get home but for some reason the buses were not operating so i decided to take the huge walk home.

clouds got dark, wind started picking up and before i knew it, nature was against me with its almighty large drop rain and hail stones. funnily enough i starting thinking that the skyrim theme song would fit perfectly into this for my workouts etc.

so when i got home, i dried off and had a look on iTunes to see if there was a skyrim soundtrack on sale but alas, i could not find anything :(

can you guys point me in the right direction as to where i can purchase the soundtrack or at least the theme song for skyrim? i feel savvy and cheap if i illegally downloaded it, and chances are, it will not sound as good as an official download.

thanks for taking your time to read my post!

and apologies if this has been posted before

I think it was possible to order a copy before Skyrim's release, which would even come with a signature from Jeremy Soule. I'm not sure if they're still selling copies of those (without the signature obviously).

don't quote me on this, but i remember hearing on bbc news that the skyrim theme song had become a huge hit on classic fm! :twirl:
classic fm is actually quite popular on the radio. i can't remember the full story though but i remember them mentioning that it turned out to be admirable on classic fm

Actually it's a 4 cd set.... So the price isn't horrible. I bought it. There is definitely a lot of repetitive music, but disc 4 is great to fall asleep to. It's called Skyrim Atmospheres. Very ethereal. I'd get it if you are a fan, otherwise pass.

First off, the 4 CD set is well worth the price! Second off, DirectSong is Jeremy Soule's official release venue for Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and many other of his works. YOU CAN download the earlier ES music from this site, but SKYRIM is a CD set only at this point, which is fine by me. The audio quality is vastly superior to a download off the net! And buying the music on this site guarantees you are supporting the composer, not various middlemen and/or vampiring web pirates.

It is a lot of music, and yes some of the pieces do reprise themes / passages from previous songs, ( think of it as a cinematic soundtrack ) but it's not too hard to edit it down to about 20 of the main pieces, and pack them onto another media, be it MP3, CD, IPOD, .wav files, what have you. A compilation I made is currently in the onboard CD cartridge in our vanpool vehicle, and a few rideshare compadres have bought the 4 CD set, after inquiring about it, even though they don't play video games!

I've no doubt at all that if Bethesda were to go to Sirius, and do some other music venue promotional effort to classical music radio, they would chart the set in a heartbeat. But, maybe they don't have the resources for a new product venue like this yet?

I believe they are. I ordered mine from DirectSong well after the release of Skyrim and mine came autographed.

The price is $30, but it is a 4 disc set, that comes in some pretty legitimate packaging. It's not just a jewel case with a cover slip, it's a cardboard fold out package with some very nice Skyrim artwork (Alduin's Wall). Mine came autographed, I believe I got it in like March, so I don't know if they are still doing autographs or not. I wasn't expecting mine to come autographed, but it did, so maybe!

The worst part about DirectSong is that it took about 4 weeks for delivery. I don't know why that was, but for what it's worth, there was a notice before I ordered that stated how long it would take to deliver. It wasn't just DirectSong being incompetent. It did come, and I don't regret the $30 purchase in the least bit.
