You don't need disks for Steam games once installed

Try restarting Steam. Or try checking the game cache integrity. Other than that, I don't really know what you should do.

If that doesn't help, it's more than likely something on your end (such as your ISP or something) or Valve's.

Yea but if his steam connection is not accessible atm then a cd is an alternative ownership check, I think. Pretty sure it works.

I had that happen twice. Reboot your computer and steam should work fine.

  • Open Game library (in steam)
  • Right click on skyrim
  • Click "Properties"
  • Click on the "Local Files" tab
  • Press "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
Once you did that, if there was a problem, steam would automatically repair the files, just give it a minute or 2.

Also, if that doesn't work, try this:

1. Close Steam. Right click on its icon in the System Tray, and Exit.
2. Go to Steam's folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
3. Find the file ClientRegistry.blob and rename it or delete it.
4. Start Steam again. It will re-download the client.
5. You're fixed. Have fun.
