Wow that was too funny. Guess I know who not to pick a fight with now.

And they say hand-to-hand isn't effective in this game.

What was that shout he was using, though?

What ever happened to the Way of the Voice?

I think that shout is called Frost Form or something similar.

Whoa, I always wondered if I could take him. Now I know. However, it did take him a while to decide, "That's ENOUGH!"

Smart. He only used the short version so it would recycle faster.

I tried that, once. I wanted his robe. The first time it went about like that. Eventually, though, I got him down far enough to learn he was essential.

They may be peaceful monks, but they sure are cheap in a fight.

This just highlights how crap the shout recharge times are for the player compared to NPC's, and how wasted they are as a gameplay mechanic. They have nice effects but the recharge time on them makes shouts a novelty rather than a mainstay gameplay mechanic. If Arngier can pump them out every 6 seconds then the player should be able to also, I mean we ARE the dragonborn. Arngier is just an old man who has a lot of practice at it, the player is supposed to the be the one with the divine ability not some crappy NPC.

Never stood a chance...

Although yea, it pisses me off how can some old Greybeard use a shout every 10 seconds while me, Dovahkiin, can use it maybe ...every 100 seconds?

If you didn't have the recharge time, you'd be like him and be able to take on anyone just using shouts. You'd be OP and it would make magic a bit redundant. Personally I like the way they function now - except stuff like frost and fire breath could be a bit more powerful. But you can paralyse crowds with ice form, marked for death can seriously weaken strong opponents and unrelenting force can insta-kill tough opponents if the terrain is there - briarhearts are often child's play because forsworn areas tend to have a lot of steep stairs and sharp drops you can blast them off. If you could chain shout, you'd be even more godlike than you can be already.

Don`t mess with the Greybeards I say  His combat style is pretty effective, and after seeing that video I may now give a hand to hand melee fighter a go using that frost shout

I think the best part is how he just doesn't seem to care...until that last arrow. Then suddenly that's the last straw.

From a lore/RP perspective, despite the Dovahkiin's innate talents with the Thu'um, the Greybeards have been studying it for decades and devoted their entire lives to its mastery. You've been at it, for...what, a day? A week? A month? Makes sense to me that even if you are the Dovahkiin, the Greybeards should still be able to wipe the floor with you when it comes to Shouting.
