I started out by running away from Helgen, and definitely not towards Riverwood where there are more Imperial friends by the sound of it.
On the way, I came across a fisherman. I bought some food from him with the small coin I'd scrounged from bodies previously. When his back was turned, I took his valuable belongings and followed the river.
On my map I could see Falkreath, and I followed roads, stopping at huts/camps where possible. One hut I found two sleeping hunters, and managed to steal two rings without them waking (I would have played it out even if they had caught me).
Eventually I found my way to Falkreath, and stopped at the inn there, which actually felt comfortable, because the journey there I was low on arrows, constantly looking out for bandits or wolves.
I read two books at the inn, and stayed there a full day before heading in the direction of Riften, the only place for an outlaw such as myself.
I followed the road this time, and eventually passed some travellers. One was another hunter, and way down the road I saw her horse. She was so far back up the mountain, I took the chance of grabbing it and making a faster journey.
On the horse I road through some autumnal woodland, and was able to outrun the wolf packs.
Eventually I passed a couple on their way to a wedding in Solitude. They had one bodyguard, and after the husband had finished telling me about all the expensive gifts they'd brought, I offered to carry some....and he called his guard.
Three arrows later and the guard lay dead, with the couple running off in different directions. I chased the husband (with the expensive gifts), and we both ran into a wolf pack. The wolves picked him though, and I watched from a distance, readying my bow for when they came back looking for me.
But he ran further still, and I didnt want my gold getting away, so I chased, and over the hill ran right into view of a bandit fort.
The wolves downed the man, turned towards me, and being a Wood Elf, I chose that moment to use my racial power to make them my allies.
They didnt want any of the bandits though, and ran off.
A sniping contest ensued. I took a couple of arrows (thankfully not to either knee), and downed the rest of them. What did they expect, taking on a Wood Elf in Archery combat?
I climbed to the top of the tower on the fort, and in the evening sun I could see Riften just across the lake.
I swam the lake, caught some salmon, and arrived in Riften, talking my way past the guards, and bribing the local bruiser for some information about where one such as me might want to go.
Best beginning I've ever had.
Although my three year old daughter has some questions. She wants to know:
Why the deer jumped into the lake
Why she cant have the apples in the barrel, or the one that was laying on a table
Why my female wood elf looks angry all the time
I said I'd ask
