What to do when your stuck?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:26 pm

So, i was bored, since there is nothing left to do, but companion(lame quests) and thieves guild quests(boring also). I have done every quest, found every cave, ruin, etc, not pertaining to the companions and thieves guild money quests.

and i take on one from vilkas, to go slay a dragon. we get there and there is no dragon(yet another in the 1,000's of bugs) just an arrow indicating where he should be. So now, i cant kill the dragon, and i'm stuck with vilkas, he cannot be let go, he's stuck to my side. I moved ahead in game, probably a month, and yet still no dragon. I try to talk to him, to get rid or let go, nothing but him talking, with no dialogue available, till quest is done.

it's getting to the point, with broken quests, or arrows indicating where things should of been, or giants, mammoths and dragons not resawning, that this game, clearly was not finished and tested. My only complaint with this game, was lack of creatures to fight, especially outside of caves, ruins, etc. Now, i'm so tired of the broken quests on my journal, its close to 30 right now, and other things that are broken because of the game being bugged.

I was never a RPG guy, but i do like the game, but the bugs are getting to the point, where it's not even worth it.

instead of the louis latrush bug being fixed(he multiplies, outside of whiterun), now he multiplies and is invincible. So where you used to be able to kill his clones, and leave 1 of him, now, you try to kill one of his clones, and you have his clones running a muck, then the guards get involved and it's a mess, unless i fast travel some where or go into whiteruns main gate.

also, there are close to 10 shops, that are now deserted, because the owner was killed by a dragon, and no one takes over. What's the point???? Obviously, some one would take over the forge and shop, if the owner died.

frustrating, it is!(xbox 360, and i shouldn't need mods to play the game)

What I do is not get stuck, by always having multiple save points that I can jump back to when the inevitable big bug strikes. I rotate through about 10 save slots, and I back up my latest few saves daily to a memory stick. So I can backpedal as far as I have to, whenever I run into a nasty dead end.

The main thing which has annoyed me on my play through is one of those things you've mentioned, shopkeepers not being replaced. Alvor the blacksmith got killed by a Dragon, and his body has been lying in the street for a month, everyone making the same comments, and nobody is running the blacksmith's place there. It's annoying. If I'd killed him myself I'd understand that it was my fault, but now I'm down a blacksmith. If the the other places have something similar I'd have no-one to buy smithing good from or weapons.

svcks to be you then. I have experienced little in the way of bug related problems. The same thing with FONV, which apparently was supposed to be so buggy.

Fortunately, there's no shortage of blacksmiths in the game. You can even go visit all the stormcloak or imperial camps (or both before you take sides) and deal with the quartermasters. But as with getting stuck in a broken quest, having multiple saves to go back to can solve the problem of an NPC dying in a dragon fight.

No, the game really is buggy as hell. If you aren't the troll you seem to be, and really have never had a single bad bug bite you in Skyrim, then you're just very lucky.

FNV was so buggy. More then skyrim. And in ps3 FNV locked up do many times. I had literally about 20 lock ups of my ps3. It was worse then skyrim on ps3. But it's still one of my favorite games :)

I know you said you weren't one for RPGs, but make your own quests. Explore and find things. Do some home decor. See how the enemies behave outside of battle. There's a ton to do that isn't even quest, battle, or crafting related. The devs have said they want to encourage freeform quests(I'm assuming that means create your own quest). You don't need mods to enjoy this game. Maybe you could try to create a character who is a researcher. I tend to find more things to do even if it means just looking around.

Maybe you could have your character despise a specific enemy type. Mine hasn't been doing many quests except his personal one, bringing the undead peace and killing vampires and necromancers. He is an RP lite character, but he also will kill any Thalmor that are in the wilderness. Giving the character most hated enemies can make things seem more exciting because you aren't the one hating them, it's the character who is.

Maybe you could make your character have passion for something. Maybe he likes collecting and researching the flora. Maybe he collects animal pelts and puts bear pelts on his bed. Maybe he enjoys studying geology as a hobby. Maybe he's an amateur zoologist. Hope you can find something to do in the game.
