Everyone keep debating real world history to disparage the thread's thesis.

Humanity has conducted so many wars in so many different ways that any coincidences are pretty much expected to be present in a fictional war story.

Most or all fiction in based is some reality. It gives it validity. As the saying goes, "Truth is stranger than fiction." I wrote a short fantasy fiction story and made reference to a location, explaining that the location was "at the equatorial line of said planet," and was heavily chastised for it. Claiming that it was based upon science and reality an therefore not based in fantasy.
