Realistic Charcter

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:24 pm

So title says some of it. Heres the idea, you start a new charcter any race you want. And you play it like if the game was real life. So rules are

- No fast travel

- Don't have to be on Master you can pick ANY difficulty you feel comfortable one.

- Once you die , thats it you delete the save.

- You can elimanate anything you don't want to use.I AM NOT USING DAEDRIC SMITHABLE ARMOR OR ARTIFACTS! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS TOO..

- And if you want a little fast travel you can ONLY fast travel to major citys (Whiterun,Solitude,Windhelm,Riften,Markarth)

- Eat , and Drinking are OPTIONABLE
- SLEEPING IS REQUIRED! Atleast 8 hours a day. Like a normal human so 1/3 of the day you have to sleep

Some tips for these rules

Make your travel only last atleast 16 hours or less. So you can fit in that 8 hours.
Use carriages early on in the game , they help a lot and use it if you aren't using fast travel to major cities.
You will most likely want to use smithing and enchanting HEAVILY if you are playing on master.
Use horses , best horse is Shadowmeare he pretty much wont die unless he's chucked up into orbit by a giant.
Don't use a wacky class use a single type or 2 type class. What i mean is dont use Destruction for offense then Twohander or something weird like that. You want to use something like a Warrior/Barbarin , Assasain , Mage/Battle-Mage , Archer.

The person with the highest charcter at the end of 5 threads wins.

I think ignoring both fast travel and the quest compass makes the game a lot more interesting/realistic in terms of navigation. Instead of "fast travel to Solitude and head south-southwest from there" it becomes more like "follow this river downstream until you reach the waterfall, then turn left and you should see a lightning-struck tree on a hill..." It lets you really learn your way around Skyrim in terms of the landscape itself which is a lot of fun. OTOH the seven thousand steps to High Hrothgar start to get really tedious after a while...

Add in eating, drinking and sleeping. It makes the game more enjoyable.

Thought about playing without a compass, but it would be very hard because sometimes you have to go to place X and there is no indication where place X might be. There are no dialog options to ask where this place X is so you are basically lost without a compass.

I wouldn't say this is overly 'realistic' as such. Restricting what types of weapons and armor you can use certainly isn't realistic. It's more general 'rules', really. A mixture of DiD and strict rules.
Many play this way, myself included. Aside from the weapon/armor restrictions.

Edit:

Actually, you'll find that for most non-radiant quests NPCs will point you in the right direction. Farengar Secret-Fire, for example, will direct you to Riverwood in order to reach Bleak Falls Barrow. Many rumors point you to x in/near y city. Passing guards will tell you about locations, and give you a general direction.

I find that many people just presume that there's NO directions because many radiant quests don't provide them in dialogue. For radiant quests, NPCs just mark the location on your map. Quite realistically, I'd say.

I think that High Catalyst is proposing a contest.

Yeah, seems more like "self-imposed challenge" than "realistic".

Well what is was imposing was a contest sort of thing. But with realistic rules and I didnt think about the drinking , eating and sleeping. And I am limiting the weapons ONLY for myself other people can do it. I just want to do it so i dont feel overpowered if i do get them.
