Hi everyone,

I recently restarted Skyrim with the latest patch for PC.

I finished Meridia's beacon quest and then "Poof!" Lydia is gone.

When I go to recruit other followers, they say "Looks like you have someone already"

WHY is this happening?

Should I get a different follower?

OK, followers will still get lost in the void from time to time. It happens.

You can try waiting 73 game hours, then if you get the pop up message that your follower has decided to go home, then go back to Breezehome and get her. It may take another 3 to 5 game days for her to show up. Check anyway as it is easy to miss that pop up message about her going home.

If you don't get the message, and Lydia does not show up at her home, then the easiest solution is to load that save from before you lost her and play again.

If you haven't fast-travelled back to, say, Whiterun, I'd try that. If she doesn't appear immediately, check out the Jarl's palace and see whether she's hanging around eating bread.

I found that when one of my followers disappeared, fast travelling back to the spot where I'd recruited them ... or sometimes just fast travelling ... resulted in their reappearing.

I lost Lydia leaving High Hrothgar for the first time. Didn't notice til I got to town, figured she was just behind. A few game days later, she was in my house like nothing had happened. Give it some time, she'll show up.

Maybe she's gotten herself killed?

if this is on PC can't you do a console command to bring her to where you are or something.. i'm not too sure my laptop couldn't handle Skyrim so i had to go console for this one :'(

I'd guess that if she had, OP would be getting the "you already have a follower" message when trying to recruit a new companion.

I had this happen a few times on my first go around but, they usually reappeared when I entered a cave, house, etc.

However, after a couple of patches, I found that they'd sometimes vanish and not reappear until I fast travelled ... which took me awhile to catch onto as I was doing a no fast travel character at the time.

Anyway, fast travelling, e.g., my (favorite) follower goes missing -> I fast travel to daedric shrine where I met her and presto ... she's right behind me again, always returned my erstwhile follower to to the fold.

I'm on the 360 so a console command wasn't an option.

You're on the PC you say, just use the console to either find out where she is or simply bring her to you.

moveto player (moves her to your location if you just want her back right away)
